i have a hks 40mm wastegate and a manifold with the 40mm flange, but the manifold has its flange flat unlike the one i got with the wastegate which has its flange and it has like a raised edge where the wastegate piston seals. so if i installed the hks on the manifold there would be leaks because the flange woudnt seal well.

soo, what can i do can i cut the manifolds flange off and weld on my flange, my concern with this is welding stainless steel to mild steel? how well would that hold?
and it would be tig welded by the way

or does anyone sell a stainless flange for this wastegate?

or would it be possible to have one made?

first pic is of the manifold flange, last two are of my flange

see if a machine shop can make an adapter made out of steel...like a metal gasket that would go in between the two. also i completely agree with Rob10_99 if you are to use that header then you will also need to weld some support brackets running under the flange on the header. Probably the best bet is from the collector to the flange...it will snap off otherwise...might not right away but it wont hold for too long.

that breaking off is not to big of a concern im putting support braces to hold the wastegate, besides a tig welder for me is only a phone call away
thanks for that idea tho, i just hope it doesnt come down to that
but you gotta pay to play

I have seen several "race" cars around here at a local race I go to that had manifolds like this. They didnt have any kind of support bracing. Could the steel piping used in their manifolds just have been stronger and more weight bearing? I ask this because I am looking at getting a similar style manifold but not if it will break.

personally i have never owned one of those headers so i couldnt tell you how long it would last however i do have a similar setup header and mine lasted a year and the flange cracked all the way around because it couldn't support the weight. Honestly it is probably not a bad header as long as you run supports to hold up the weight of the waste gate and the dump pipe.

Sounds good then. I will look into some supports that attach to the wastegate and dump pipe.
