Fixing to do a 6 bolt swap do i need to use a 1g transmission or 2g?

yeah im going to gamble on my car and do a 6 bolt swap i just hope every thing turns out ok. Im getting a 1g rebuilt 6bolt with probly no more the 3k miles on it with a big 28t tubro for $1700 cash and i figerd i might as well change out the transmission sence i will have the motor out because the transmission on the car has a 4th gear synro out so i cant use that gear so i was wondering if i should buy a 1g tranny or a 2g sence the car is going to have a 1g motor in it.

Also if u dont mind is there any good guide's or video's that u guys might know about floating around on the web on howto do a 6 bolt swap because this will be a first for both me and my m8 who is going to do the swap

ok thanks i found me a 2g tranny on ebay now if i can get it for the right price

also the 1g motor im buying is comeing out of a 2g the person whos selling it decied to part out his car so my main problems will be what i have to do to get the 1g to hook up to my 2g wires and such sence the motor is already set up to work in a 2g.

Just read through the magnus link and you will be fine. Have you considered rebuilding your trans instead of buying a used one?

I looked into haveing some one do it but its cost alot of money and i dont know how to rebuild one my self

I'm in the same boat, just take it as it comes and try to be organized.
Maybe someone in your area could help you if you really don't think you can handle it.

I know this isnt the classified forum but I may be able to hook you up with a cheap 2g fwd tranny if that is what you are looking for. I am selling mine due to it leaking trans fluid slowly. Could be bad seals, could be just a crush washer, I am not sure. Local shop said they would put new seals in for 100, so I was looking to sell the trans for 250+shipping or you can pick it up in the southern Ohio area. Just send me a message if you are interested.

PS...2G FWD transmissions aren't as confusing as you think. Crack open the old one and you will see what I'm talking about. I replaced all the syncro's, second gear, and installed a Quafe. I almost shit myself until I cracked it open. Your biggest worries are pre-load and shaft play (use some soft solder over the bearings to get your measurements and proper shim size) and the other is sealing it up. Make sure you get the pink stuff from Mitsubishi...it comes in a tube to be used with a caulking gun.
Now you can sell your old/newly rebuilt transmission for more.
