alright this is my first thread so bare with me here haha. I bought the car about a year ago and used it for a daily driver for the last six months. I bought it for $2,000 with wiseco pistons and crower 272 cams on a rebuild. It had an ebay 16g. i put on tru boost, a 2g maf, 550 injectors and a couple other things.
After putting about 2000 into it i decided it was time for a rebuild. I am currently going to school and working at a performance/machine shop so time and money is very slim but this is what i do in my spare time. I attached some pictures from the build so far. I'm redoing the front suspension as well with paint (POR15) and new bushings ect. For the engine i am going to hone the cylinders since its already bored .20 over, and get new rings and bearings and ARP all around. also do a valve job on and new lifters and check the springs ect.
Any input would be great, my goal is around 400hp

I also just got this turbo from a friend who was planning on using it for his e30 build but changed the direction of his build. It was used for 5,000 miles and i believe it is a gt30r correct me if i'm wrong. He had it ported and polished and ceramic coated but never used it since then. I haven't given him any money yet how much do you think its worth?
Also I'm pretty sure i need a 2g manifold? and what type of wastegate should i use and what else will i need to complete the install (obviously supporting mods, bigger injectors, fuel pump, DSM link, Front Mount ect.)

I just wanted to say thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to help me out this is the best forum i have been on and (most) everyone here is helpful.

u don't have to use a 2g manifold and if you are just go w. an evo 3 instead. or port the 2g and i really doubt its a gt30.. looks like it might be a B cover but the best way to find out is to ask your buddy what kind of turbo it is. and for the wastegate it really depends on what boost ## gonna be running but i would say go w/ a tial 38mm

Blurry pictures that don't show any of the cast in markings on the compressor housing make the "guess what turbo this is" game a bit more difficult.

Please tell me something was wrong with the engine prior to you pulling it completely apart... At least burning a shit ton of oil or something.

Anyway, 400 hp is a pretty simple goal. It's all budget dependent. Give us your budget and we can go from there. For example:

You can have 400 wheel horsepower with an AEM EMS, a gt30, a fully built motor, and every supporting mod you could imagine.

Or you could do it with an evo3, an Safc, some injectors and a fuel pump, and a lot of dyno time. maybe a FMIC just to make it easier.

ya def agree u need better pics.. and very true about the 16g. back w/ my old setup i made 385whp w/ my E316, 550's, SAFC, 255 fuel pump.. I would say put the 16g back on and get rid of that turbo unless of course u dont plan on paying the guy. If u want to make 300-400 hp get a 16g. If u want to go all out: built motor etc. get a 35r or 60 trim or a much bigger turbo than w/e that one you have is

aight i appreciate the input guys. musicnow; the reason i took eveything apart is beacuse my coolant system was pressurized. (sorry for the poor speach had a couple beers tonight :hellyeah: ) but i still have the 16g its an ebay turbo that came with the car i just wanna get rid of it and start over from scratch. the front suspension is out of the car, i attached some better pics of the turbo too. I'm going to build the motor at my shop but the rest of the car is what i am worried about. :ohdamn:

so my buddy says its a gt3071r, any opinions?
