first start, what is this sound

Well, with a lot of help from you guys, the project eclipse started today. But makes a weird noise. Doesn't sound as tinny in person. Actually sounded more like air. Help. Only ran for about 15 sec.

Sounds like rod knock to me man. Could possible be a bad hydraulic tensioner. I'd guess rod knock though

Threw some oil in the top (primed bottom) and it was gone. Also noticed front engine mount wasn't bolted, so I did that. Have to find an oil leak and tranny leak, bolt the drivetrain, and I thinkshe'll be moving.

Sounds like a diesel... . I hope you didn't do timing recently because it sounds out of wack. Might be pistons knocking the valves.

like the others stated.. yep rod knock.. i would know i have had 3 dsm's i bought like this just to build the motors and sell..
