Ok, I just finished putting everything together for my build, you can check out my journal for a more in depth look at what I have in the car.

Before starting the car
  1. I primed the motor with oil following this guide
  2. Afterwards I set my fuel pressure to 37PSI by activating the fuel pump with ECMLink with the motor off.
  3. The restrictor for my holset oil feed is at .070".
  4. Boost leak tested
  5. I used the TPS adjust tool in link before starting the vehicle.
  6. I adjusted my ecu inputs to their correct pins
  7. I simulate my idle switch, and enabled its operation
  8. Set global fuel to -60.9 and deadtime to 330 based off of my 1150cc injectors
  9. Set my desired idle rpm to 800
  10. Loaded Evo mod 1 timing and open loop tables onto the ecu
  11. Loaded the stock Speed Density VE table
  12. Connected my timing light to plug #1 and power
  13. Got a 12mm wrench ready to loosen the CAS to adjust timing

Then I cranked over the motor. Surprisingly, it actually cranked, and even more surprisingly it actually started. It felt really good, but after about 10 seconds I had so much smoke billowing out of my garage that I had to shut it off.

My engine oil pressure was incredibly high, it pegged my full sweep at 100PSI. My turbo oil pressure was also kinda high for idle at around 30-40PSI. Now, I understand that the oil is cold so pressures should be higher than normal, but I'm not sure about that high.

Based on my log, it seems my idle was trying to hover around 800 and I would say it did a good job for no tuning. AFRs were WAY to lean at 18-19. What really bothers me though is the ecu was doing nothing to adjust for it. Fuel trims, every last one is at 0% through the entire 15 second log. I also noticed that even after running the TPS adjust my ThrotPos is still at 1% and TPSVolts is at .67. So obviously I need to run the TPS again, but i do not think that my TPS is going to cause smoke. I also noticed that my ISC position is completely out of whack at 120. The ISC is brand new.

My understanding is that a in a new motor, the rings are not seated, so oil may be able to get past them, but the smoke that was coming out of the exhaust was substantial. My turbo shaft play is nearly non existent, so unless the 30-40 PSI blew the seals on the turbo I do not have any other ideas for what could be causing that much smoke.

What do you guys think could be my problem? I have attached the log of this first run so you can get a good idea of what is going on.

Additional info:
The very first time I had started it, was before this log was taken, and it ran for about 30 seconds before starting to smoke. Before it started to smoke, I tried to take my foot off of the clutch (in neutral) and it seemed to make the engine bog down a lot so I would push it back in. There is a terrible squeal coming from the alternator belt, and when I ease up on the clutch it subsides. Also, with the timing light hooked up, I was unable to get the light to actually strobe. The timing light is brand new.

I just tried to start the car again, and my oil filter seal blew. Oil went all over the gad damn place. $50 worth of oil down the drain. I have a feeling that oil pressure is just to high. Anyone?

Main issues were oil filter being the incorrect size. I had a 91-94 oil filter on a 1990 oil filter housing which was restricting the hell out of my oil flow. Also, the stock o2 sensor never seemed to oscillate so i enabled narrow band simulation with link which seems to have solved most of my issues.
