Just aquired myself a 91 GSX. Just wondering what a good first mod would be?

Maintenance.

eg:

boost leak check
timing belt
plugs
suspension inspection
shaft play on turbo
oil leaks
etc..

d

I think a good first mod would be to read the rules on here, FAQ's, VFAQ's, and to use the search feature to see if your question has been asked before. Then fill out your vehicle profile, then maintenance.

+2!!!

Reading is VERY Fundamental. Helps the brain grow. Keeps your mechanical skills sharp. Also helps answer questions that have been asked too many times :banghead:

i allways say suspension but the gauges is a really goood idea. suspension is just a good place to start because good suspension will take high horsepower better then stock shit

Suspension as a first mod on a turbo car? I would definitely go with things that make it faster drag wise rather than auto-cross wise :D

If someone wouldn't have beat me to it, I'd say maintenance. After that I'd say try to buy/make stuff you don't have to do all over again. I mean like I bought K&N filter with adapter to maf, and did UICP from solid pipes with silicon couplers. 6 months later I decided to go bigger and pulled the whole engine out, dissambled it, assembled it, installed bigger turbo, FMIC, GM maf and lotsa other things. Those parts I first mentioned have now no use.

So I'd recommend stuff like:

gauges
boost controller
exhaust (my pick)
logger
etc.

And this approach saves money in the long run. :aha:
