Alright guys, i have my first log, and i'm trying to make sense of it, but i'm going to need some help. i've searched around and haven't found much on the values and where they should be, but some of these numbers don't look right. take a look and tell me what you think please. thanks
here is the log - http://revolutiondj.org/second log.JPG (new log)

In looking at the log, i doesn't give us a clear picture. All you need to log is RPM, timing, TPS and O2. Your sample rate is likely pretty low since you logged everything available. Reducing that will get you better frequency of recording. Also, when you log, do a 3rd gear pull at WOT from about 2000 RPM to 7000 RPM so we can get a more consistent picture.

Drop us a new log and we'll have another look.

Andy

P.S. Make sure you update your vehicle profile since we can't tell how to guide you if we don't know what's done to the car.

Alright, i updated the log with less attributes and i changed my profile. from what ive read, is the o2 supposed to be around .92 and the tps around 100? i had it at WOT the whole time, but i have automatic so i wasnt sure how i could do a pull in 3rd from 2k to 7k...any help will be appreciated...im not sure what to make out of this. thanks

Thanks for updating. I'm off to have a look in a moment. As far as keeping the car steady in one gear, you may want to display the portion of the log that it runs in third and not let it switch to overdrive. Perhaps someone with an automatic can chime in and tell you what they do.

I'm not well versed on O2 voltage so I can't tell you what's correct there (I tune by knock and EGT). Also, I'm not sure if the strangeness with the TPS is related to the fact that you're an auto or that the throttle plate isn't opening all the way. You may want to have the TPS checked for proper voltage and also see if there's any slack in your throttle cable when your foot's off the gas.

The only thing I find strange, and some people may disagree, is why you'd log a setup that's pretty much stock since there's really nothing to tune with.

Thanks for the response. The reason i logged it (or even got a pocketlogger) is because my CEL came on and it ran like crap. I checked the CEL and it had three errors. 2 to do with the o2 sensor and one to do with something that i can't recall off-hand. i wanted to log it to see if anything else was wrong since it ran so bad. also, im planning on upgrades once i get some money. thanks for the help

I did a little research on my end and it does look like the O2 is faulty. I'd replace the upstream unit if that's the one it's tripping the code for. You can stop by a local Autozone and also have them check the code for you to make sure. Your other code may be for the TPS. Either way, I'd have them pull every code and you can post the results here if you aren't sure what each fault will do.

Since you're planning on doing more work to the car, I'd definitely hang on to that logger since it'll be invaluable to you later on to make sure that everything is as it should be.

Let us know what those code numbers are!

Andy

Alright, i got the code numbers, most have to do with the downstream o2 sensor. first one that comes up is P0170 - Fuel Trim (Bank 1), the second is P0136 - O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2) and the third is P0141 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1, Sensor 2). I've been doing searches on these and i think my donwstream o2 sensor is shot. would a new sensor be worth it (like 100 new i think) or would it be better to just go to wideband o2? also, would getting a used one be worth it? i have a friend who just totaled his gst and im getting parts i need from him cheap, so that could be an option. and i think the fuel trim is another reason why my car is running so bad. but i need to get some money to get an safc. if you notice anything else wrong with my log or have any comments, please post. thanks guys
