Keep them in the stock location. Whatever is on the coilpack.

alright i finally had a chance to charge my dead battery and try swapping the firing order around. it sounds, to me, like it was trying to start so i started opening the throttle body to get air in her. well whenever i did that the starter sounded like it was getting voltage taken away from it and was slowing the motor down from turning over.

im going to make sure every cylinder is getting fuel and start taking apart the timing belt side...

finally got her fired off! she almost had me thinking i was a newbe .

the cas was 180 out and the firing order was off. there is still alot to do but its a good starting point. at least she doesnt leak a drop of oil or coolant

So your running the 98 ecu in your 95 right now?

I've installed the 99' ecu in the 95's before, no problems.

So i was going to post this just in case some one had this problem, i figured it out but it took some time!!!

Ok so i installed ecu flash on my girlfreinds laptop with (vista) never used it, because i was using another computer a the time , well it came time for me to use her computer to tune my 98 GSX, well i tried and tried to get it to work, and nothing . It wouldnt read the ecu, nor would it read the rom!! well after researching the site and came up with nothing!!! I finally figured out you have to right click and use the (run adminastrative rights) to install it or it will not install right and wont work !!! On to the rom thing , I'm not sure if it has to do with Vista or not, but this is how i did it!! i saved the rom to my desktop, and i would try to open it in ecu flash and it would say image error or some thing like that!! I finally right clicked the rom and hit open, let it search the internet for some thing to open it with which was winrar (http://www.win-rar.com/index.php?id=970&dl=/rar/wrar393.exe&btn=1#) and then extracted it to the desktop, and then went back into ecu flash and everything worked great, it still wouldnt read the ecu, but would open the rom and would let me reflash the ecu!!!

I had the same problem on my girlfriends laptop with vista. I could not read, test, or choose a base rom but could flash. I ended up trying my dads old laptop with XP the next day wiped anything related to ecuflash/drivers, reinstalled everything and was able to read/write & and test. Vista is just junk !!

Question about the evoscan? I didnt read the whole freakin thread, but I have a logger cable I use with my pocket logger sofware, will this work with the evoscan to log and use the open port cable to flash?

IF it has a usb plug on one end and a obd2 conector on the other end and you have the drivers for it!!! it should work you will have to check the 1.3 cable box and the mutIII box to log!!!

It doesnt have a usb at the end, it has the serial. What do you mean by the drivers? Sorry Im ignorant when it comes to speaking of computer cables and such.

Drivers are what you download to make the cable work! I think you might be able to use it if your laptop has a serial output! Try it and let is know!

What makes it not as easy? Im just looking for something that wont break my wallet that is pretty simple. Im more of a hands on guy so if I were to have it shown to me I could catch on very quickly.

Well with ecmlink you can datalog and tune with one program, with this way you have to datalog then go into ecu flash and tweak things then flash then disconnect the battery then go datalog, its cheaper than ecmlink by about 300,

Do you have anyone that is using this that lives by you. Or I could try to walk you threw it on the phone if you need help really bad

I am a hands on learner as well and I read and read and read, tried to contact ceddy and got nothing there! But I Got the hang of it and its a breeze now!
