Hey guys! This is my first post here my name is john and I'm in the Baltimore area(county) I just bought my first dsm its really clean bought it from a old mitsu. Mechanic this was his last dsm info about it on my page ill get pictures up soon but I have a few questions I have h&r race springs and they are so bouncy! I get upwards to 100 and I feel like my car is literally about to hop off of the ground anything I can do? Coilover suggestions? Also I think I'm hitting fuel cut in 2nd around 5.5k normal on a mostly stock char? I'm allmost positive its not boost leak

Welcome to tuners, you will quickly find out that maintenance is very important. I would build a boost leak tester and use it. If you have never done one before then you may be surprized at how many leaks can exist.

Welcome to the world of DSM's! I had comparable springs on my old 2G with stock shocks and they are pretty bouncy. Eibach springs will do you much better, along with a good set of aftermarket struts- a lot of 2G guys seem to like Tokico Illuminas and Koni Yellows. :thumb: And for the 5500rpm issue, always start with the easiest/cheapest thing which would be a boost leak test- you'll be amazed how many tiny leaks there can be without causing a huge problem!

For the sping issue i have heard of people using FWD springs for an AWD so it will be a little less of a spring rate in the rear and not too bouncy, just a thought though good luck and have fun man.

As everybody else stated, Going the cheap route and making yourself a boost leak tester will do wonders, all kinds of issues come from simple boost leaks, including what will make you believe it's a "fuel cut." but welcome to the dsm world! Hope you have fun and definitely take care of small problems quickly cause they build quick if you don't take care of them ASAP!

Thanks guys I'm gonna build a tester and see what's going on, it hasn't happend recently seems to have gone away.... going to test anyways couldn't hurt and would be nice to have one around! Suggestions for budget struts with the eibach springs I know that the best is a full coilover for our cars and Im gonna get a set as soon as I can don't have too much Monet coming my way haha but I can't stand the ride at high speeds or even above 60 at all it gets scary I have no control with all that bounce and how much drop the springs have I really want to drop it more than the H&R's are right now

I know this is stupid but this is also the noob fourm where does the tester hook up to exactly? And did they make 2gb eclipses in the dark green like talons(my color) I want to do a 2gb front end it would be nice if I didn't have to get it painted! I think that would be the nicest look I love the talon rear and the 2ga side skirts on talons but not a fan of the front bumper and if I would buy one from a web site what model should I get obviously a gauged one but single pop dual pop? What does that even mean

Welcome to the DSM World. Looks like most of your questions have been answered but if you have anything else, just ask!

I'm gonna get some pictures up in a new thread soon I want to know why you guys think!

Actually have another question when it gets to the point of me upgrading my Turbo after fuel upgrades of course I wanted to go with a 16g because of streetability and spool time ect. But I was wanting to run an external wastegate I know I can weld the flapper shut and what not but that just seems like a waste is there any other Turbo compareable to the 16g that isn't internally gated? In terms of flow and spool time

You can also remove the flapper, and run an external wastegate in the o2 housing. That way when/if you swap the 16g for a bigger turbo down the road it can be setup to run internally again, and you can keep the wastegate recirculated easier. :thumb:

something like this might be up the alley you're talking about for ease of use

yeah that would make sense to remove the flapper but with the 16g running say 20psi is it worth it to run an external WG or will the stock flapper suffice, basically if im running 20 will the flapper stay shut and hold 20 through the rev range well

is that a custom recirc? or built for that WG

Im thinking the stock flapper will suffice for what you're wanting. I dont know if thats a custom piece or not but ive seen a few like that. I was just trying to show you what the post above my last was talking about.

Generally the stock wastegate will be enough, some people run into boost creep issues with 16gs, but there are other ways to cure it that are quite a bit easier and cheaper than switching over to an external setup. The pic posted is what most o2-mounted external setups look like - decide what wastegate you want to run, order the o2 housing with the matching flanges, remove stock wastegate, bolt it in and that's basically it.

you can get color matching paint in rattle cans.. i went to my parts store ( Hedals ) here in ND but other automotive parts store offer color matching paint to do this. I did the same thing with my 95 gsx when i ordered a 99 front bumper for my big fmic

Awesome ill probably do that, also I'm not modded to much yet but if I go to a synopsis and pay someone to tune can they tune my car as is? Or would I need some sort of tuning system sounds obvious but I don't know

Also how much does injector size matter can I just throw in some 1000cc I wont be using them fully but why not it saves me money later right?
