ive got mine along side the boost guge line, into the steering boot.

Me too now :D (boost, EGT and amp)

Worked great. Looks great (snazzy fuse). presto chango, I have an amp!

Thanks guys!

there is a oval shaped rubber pre-exsisting gromet. If you look under your passenger side, pull back the top left side of the carpet, not much, its just right there. If you look down between the battery and the intake mani, its fairly low, but you can see it clearly.

If your just trying to run a wire or hose cut a small X in your steering column boot. Just follow your steering colum under the dash and you should see a rubber boot.

on the driver side, you can make a hole in the top left under the dash (from sitting position) There is lots of room to get a drill in there from under the hood, its the only area with firewall showing in the top right corner (from front bumper position). I have 2 holes here.

i have a 97 rs and there is a hole in the firewall, directly under the glove box, i used that when hooking up my tv and crap...

where do you guys feed wires through the firewall? I will be installing an amp soon along with the tubing for my boost gauge.

Before anyone trys to be authoritative and say "use the search", it hasn't been working for me. In fact the entire site has been very unreliable. Took several tries just to get this forum to load up.

Anyway, for those of you who have installed an audio system in your car (especially the 1Gs) where did you drill to bring the power cable through the firewall and into the cabin?

I'm planning to mount amps in space next to the spare and under the false floor. The amps are Blau's digital amps. They don't put out much heat and don't need much breathing space. Nothing fancy. They work... that's all that matters. My 91 is probably the oldest car I've owned in the past 7 years. Fun car but tired of listening to the constant sunroof rattle and rear hatch squeaks. Will probably have to tap some old favors and have a fiberglass sub enclosure made since the rear hatch space is quite awkard for anything larger than 10".

To make things even easier... do you happen to know where this hole is? driver? passenger side? high? low?

Pouring horizontal rain outside... and roommate took over the garage so I can't really go out there and look. Thanks.

I was looking all over the firewall for a place to snake my 4 guage rockford amp wire through, the only place i saw that goes through the firewall are the cluster of wires on the passenger side about 2 inches below the top of the car......of course the cluster is cramed full of wires to begin with my question is where is a good place to drill a hole for the amp wire??? i would like to run the wire through the center consol as i did with the RCA's and remote wire for the back of the headunit if anyone can show me where they did theres i would appretiate it

i also want to ask this

for the MAS free mod removing the silencer ring, and smaller mesh on the MAS itself

i've done the first two already, just wanna know if any problems will occur if i remove the larger one covering the sencors itself.

thanks for any info in advance

most people punchure a hole in the boot around the steering colum. fast/easy/ little to no side effects.

my buddy put mine through a little boot behind the battery. it comes through right behind the glove box. no problems there with mine.

Best route I've seen is ducking under the Fuse Box at Driver side Firewall into Wheel well - Then into A Pillar thru another grommet at rear of wheel well. For GOD'S SAKE have that WELDER LEAD fused in the Engine Compartment as close to source as possible!

hahaha you would be suprised how big a difference larger wires can do for any amp, before i got this bazooka 500 watt amp, i had, well have this pioneer 200 watt amp which the 4 guage seemed to fit perfectly to, all i had was one 10 inch jensen sub powered by it, monster audio RCA's and a 16 guage remote, going to the back of the pioneer DEH-1500 50Wx4 headunit now for those who think 200 watts and a jensen sub cant hit THINK AGAIN it sounded incredable. with the pioneer 6x9's and rockford speakers in the front it was a clean, and powerfull set up. im going with pioneer 6x9's and 6 inchers for the front, unless the ones in the door are a smaller size in the 1st gens but im keeping it pioneer because they sound great, and are not over priced and will do just as good as any other speaker out there :thumb: :thumb:

and as for having a fuse, it comes with one about 6 inches away from the lead to connect it to the battery. if it's one thing i know a decent amount of it's how to set up a stereo system :thumb:

My fuse is right off the 1 Farad Cap under the Hood attached to Battery, then 4 Gauge to a 500W Sony for 2- 12inch Subs, Head Unit drives the other 6 Speakers - Doesn't take much with these Hatchbacks. Lotsa guys put the Caps inside the Car & don't fuse a long lead running from it - IMO it should also be fused right where the lead starts if you take it inside the car.
