Fire Extuingishers Save DSM Lives

Fuel rail was dripping unknowingly and apparently one of my spark wires arc'd.
Goes to show always having an extinguisher in the car is a good idea.

My 1st dsm went up in flames 5 yrs ago and now I'm keeping a fire extinguisher in car. Good to have and you never know when you might come across someone else in need too.

Most in car fire extinguishes aren't used on you own car.

i personally think that anytime you are wrenching on any parts of the fuel system you should always keep on in your car.

i used to keep one in my rx7 that i swapped a v8 into ### i was always worried that i might have messed something up on the wiring, then one day working on some interior wiring i had 2 the wrong way on a switch and grounded the positive, good thin i had that and a battery kill switch in reach.

I've had one in my 1g for about 5 years and I just pulled it out today because I'm tired of it rattling/vibrating. Where do y'all have them mounted? Mine was on the side of the radio console mounted vertically (there's a pic in my gallery).

when u drive car in europe without fire extinguisher cops hold u registration card give u ticket and send to reinspection.

I've been living in Europe all my life and I've never heard of that rule...
We do have rules on safety jackets and warning signals. And in Germany first-aid-kits and wintertires when freezing are mandatory..

But I do agree that it should be mandatory to have a fire extinguisher in the car though!

wal-mart, homedepot, lowes, ect.. I have been thinking about getting one my self. wal-mart has some good ones that i seen plus they come with a mounting bracket.

I had the kiddy one mounted on my passenger A-pillar. Till someone broke the holder. Probably should get a new mount for it.

A lot of people mess with me on the streets with the fire extinguisher in plain view.

I have seen them mounted to the front of the drivers seat rail. That way it is out of the way but very easy to get to. Should keep the vibrations down and the bling factor to a minimum.

I lived in england for 6yrs and i never once heard anything about a fire extinguisher having to be in any car...new or old. Mind elaborating???? I agree having one is a great idea...behind the seat or mounted in trunk somewhere sounds like the spot.

I agree that the A pillar is too flashy. I don't like the rear floor idea for me (even though it is within easy reach) because even though I don't usually subject people to the torture of riding in the back, it is always a possibility. I'd like to find a nice place in the trunk to mount mine. Until then it’s staying in the garage. I’m sick of having it rattling around up front.

in Poland u need DOT E certyficate safety triangle, first aid kit ,fire extinguisher with easy aces .

Luckily nothing major. Some melted wiring pretty much.
It only got to burn for about 20seconds before I doused it. Most of it was the fuel on the surface of the intake manifold burning.

Let's put it this way: it took me 20times longer to clean up the extinguisher residue then it did to replace what was destroyed.

I live in a 5lane street. The funny part is a 2g ricer revved me while I was nailing it with the fire extinguisher. Good times.

I have a halon fire extinguisher (it doesn't leave a huge mess afterwards) in the car and it's a nice insurance policy for any modified car. I don't have pictures handy but I mounted it with a custom aluminum bracket behind the driver's seat, bolted to the rear of the stock seat tracks. No flashy A-pillar mounting for me. Besides, if not mounted securely I don't want the extinguisher bonking me on the head in an accident.
