Anybody who's ever painted a car before knows that putting the last coat of clear on the car isn't the final step. Its actually some where in the middle of the whole process.
On Thursday and friend of mine, Harry, stopped out to give me hand wet sanding and rubbing the car. We started with 1200 grit and in some spots 600 grit to flatten the clear. Then we moved up to 2000 grit before we hit the car with fast-cut compound and the buffer. We got the fast cut done on the drivers rear quarter the trunk before his buffer died. We spent the next 45 minutes trying to fix it but it was done.
Harry picked up another buffer and we went back to work today. We finished the wet sanding, hit it all with fast cut, then regular compound, and finally with a finish glaze. Although not a perfect paint job it's at least as good as the factory paint and I am happy with that.
