do they sell those bulbs in red?..... i would like the same effect that you've got, but i don't totally want to copy you, and next to blue.. red is my favorite color.

yeah red wires up the same way...you can get a red LED thats 3000mcd's at radioshack...I have done that for two people so far and they said it looked really good

i did the hvac with blue for mine

for the little switches and stuff all that crap was too small so i just destroyed the little bulb in all of em, and then found out you could just put sharpie blue on the end of em to make it look good. oh well.

i need to do gauges, and im sure theres a nice kit for it. im a cheap bastard though, and somewhere i read you acn scrape the orange translucent paint off the back of the panel and put blue on instead.

Jaybone,

You did the gauge cluster with the leds too??...or are those just new faces?

I started on mine last night...I pulled apart the rear wiper switch, and naturally, pieces flew everywhere. Once I regained my composure, I finally got it all back together....anyway.

WORD OF ADVICE...
PAY ATTENTION TO HOW THE SWITCHES ARE PUT TOGETHER IN THE PLASTIC CASE THINGY!! otherwise, there will be lots of swearing and headache.

ok how many l e ds is it going to take ??? to do it all dash and speedo cluster ?

YES! There are lots of tiny pieces in each switch. I never did get my fog swtich working... There's a tiny metal ball no bigger than the end of a pen that I lost.

1G HVAC's have 2 bulbs which illuminate better, and you can take it apart...

Sweet lights man. Thanks for postin the parts I'm gonna try it when i get my car back from the paint shop.

OK, I bought my leds, resistors, caps, soder and gun.

Now.....I know how to soder everything ( in order ), but how do soder it in place. Or did you guys cut the wires to the stock lights , remove it totally and then soder it all together on a bench and then put it back in and reconnect the stock cut wires to each other with wire nuts or tape or what ever.
I don't see how you can soder the resistor to the stock wires while it's in place, and also add the soder while your in the dash.

How are you guys doing this?

Also.....I've read that you use 5mm LED's, did you use these for all locations, because their quite large for some of the spots.
Guy at the store told me that Blue only come in 5mm.

i used a dremmel and a sanding bit to take the head off the led and also sanded around it.... i took the whole head off almost down to the metal, and the same thing around the sides... it will just fit in the stock holes..

as the wiring you have 2 choices... you can either use the green illumination lead, and the ground.... or solder it directly to the contact points where the bulb came out of... i did it both ways depending on the layout of the switch.....

good luck...

That's pretty badass looking. Couple Q's though.. didn't see it in the pic, but did you also change the orange ring around the ignition and cigarette lighter? If so how?

That looks great Jaybone, I'll be leaving mine the same color to match the color of my car (the same color as yours).
