finally got some boost! now i need some help haha

ok so my family owns a junk yard and turns out my uncle was storing this car there in the garage and then moved it out back so the car has been sitting un-started i would say easily 4 or 5 years. i remember seeing it when i was a little younger. but basically i lucked out and picked up this 90 tsi awd for 400 bucks does need a computer.. so i was told but im already working on getting it. so basically im just wondering when i get the ecu back in and everything else is fine what i should do to get this thing up and running safely without hurting the engine or turbo etc.. input def appreciated!

First I would drain and flush the gas tank. Same with the oil. Before putting a lot of money into it, try and get it started. Then do a compression check to see what shape the engine is in. There must have been a reason someone sent it to the junkyard.

If the engine starts and runs good, then replace the timing belt, tensioner, pulleys and water pump. Might as well replace the balance shaft belt, power steering and alternator belt. Check the heater hoses and radiator hoses.

That should give you a lot of carefree miles.

Make sure the engine turns over by hand before you crank it. Just to be safe.

Then do as mentioned. Change out gas, oil, and make sure all the rubber is in good condition.

well my family owns the junk yard it was my uncles car. but hes got a charger project now so he wanted it out of the way. but yeah ill dran the gas and get some fresh stuff in it and the other fluids and what not. whats the easiest way to drain the gas tank?

Theres a drain plug on the tank, but that may not get it all. Probably better off dropping the tank so you can make sure you get all the old nasty gas out, then flush it with some cleaner and reinstall.

Like they said before drain the tank, put new gas in with some dry gas and injector cleaner for piece of mind. At that time I would also do a tune up (wires, plugs, fuel filter etc.) and check out the vac hoses and heater hoses. A vehicle sitting that long things tend to deteriorate as time goes. Hopefully you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get it on the road. Good luck to ya!

yeah i know but i figure im well off as of right now because hey.. i bought it for 400 bucks haha so even if i put 500 in it to get it running 900 for an awd boosted vehicle i know is reliable cause its got all new parts is worth it to me. i just wanna see this baby run its my first boosted dsm.
