Hey guyz. i have a 6-bolt cyclone full swap on my 93 talon. now, im pretty sure that engine has an AWD crank, but i put on my FWD tranny from my other engine. well a few weeks ago i bought a fidanza flywheel for 1st gen FWD it bolted on perfect, but when i tried to put the tranny bak up the flywheel was too big and the tranny would not go in. now my question is, is there a difrence in size between the fidanza AWD and FWD flywheel?

yea its a n/t tranny. but it still bolted up perfect on the cyclone engine. to be more specific, the cyclone has a AWD crank. but my car is FWD so i put a FWD tranny. everything bolted up perfect. now since the car is FWD i ordered the FWD fidanza flywheel, but when i tried mounting the tranny it would not fit due to the flywheel being too big

man im stuck i dunno what to do then. well i compared my oem flywheel to the fidanza. the fidanza is bigger than my oem. I know i recieved the correct fidanza flywhhel, i mean its a 6-bolt but for FWD. remember i have a 6-bolt cyclone and that engine is originally AWD crank. i just put my FWD tranny on it.

FWD and AWD flywheels are way different

FWD are actually bigger

Found this out when swapping parts and engine had an AWD flywheel, installed the FWD transmission, Starter just spinned Couldn't touch the teeth of the flywheel

There isn't any difference between the crank with the AWD and FWD both flywheels will fit

N/T is a completly different Flywheel, don't use it unless you are running the trans...

OK before anyone else posts any more confusion here are the facts.

1. Fidanza only makes flywheels for turbo models
2. Fwd turbo flywheels are larger than awd turbo flywheels
3. fwd nt flywheels aren't stepped and are smaller than any of the turbo flywheels
4. you can't fit a turbo clutch on an nt flywheel, and vice versa
5. you can't use an nt clutch and flywheel on a turbo tranny and you can't use a turbo clutch and flywheel on a nt tranny.
6. nt transmissions are very weak, I shredded third gear off of 3 of them in a row before upgrading to the turbo trans.
7. your best bet is to purchase a fwd turbo transmission for your car. getting an nt clutch and flywheel won't be much cheaper and will ultimately result in a weaker setup.

thanks guyz....so the fidanza AWD flywheels are smaller than the FWD? my cyclone 6-bolt 4g63 is AWD but since my car is FWD, i bought the fidanza FWD flywheel, it bolted up to the engine perfectly. but when i tried to put the FWD tranny it wouldnt go in the flywheel was too big.

So i guess my solution is to buy the fidanza AWD flywheel???!! i want to make sure before i make the purchase

Wow man... The engines aren't fwd/awd. It's the TRANNY. Get a fwd turbo tranny and use your fwd flywheel.

And AWD flywheel is smaller then the FWD flywheel, whether it's oem/fidanza/ACT/ whatever.

i know its the tranny i meant to say that the 6-bolt cyclone originally comes AWD with the AWD flywheel. my cars chassis is FWD. so when i did the swap i left the AWD flywheel but used my FWD tranny. now i bought the FWD fidanze flywheel but for some reason the tranny wont fit cause the flywheel is too big. i compared it to the stock oem i have and yess the fidanza is a little bigger

forget about the engine and crank. it makes no difference. the only things that matters is which trans you have. since you have a n/t trans, you need a n/t flywheel. that's it, there's nothing else to consider.
if you get a turbo trans, you can keep your flywheel.
