97 talon tsi all stock with just OTS koni yellow and Ground Control.

One morning backing down on the driveway in reverse gear and clutch press in. As I hit the sidewalk and the car levels out a little the car suddenly stops like someone had hit the brakes. I thought the parking brake was just not all the way down so I double check and it was. I let go of the clutch gas it a little to get me out on the street. Right when I press the clutch in to go into 1st the car stop rolling and felt like the brakes was press again. So, I moved it in 1st and reverse and the same thing.

Jacked the car up, checked front and rear brakes seems fine all well spun pretty easy by hand. Checked bushings and whatever that's under there that I think might cause this but visually all looks fine. I backed it out and all was fine running and feels as it never had happen. 10mins of driving later it happens again. Now as the speed increases vibration and noise from the rear increases.

I have gotten the tires check if it was off balance. I checked the fluids in diff, transfer case, and trans (redline oils). All four axles visually looks good no torn boots or grease around the area. All four wheels spins easily by hand.

What do you think it could be causing this and how do I go about checking for it?

is your car lowered? could your wheels/tires be rubbing on some of your suspension? just a random thought.

maybe look for excessive brake dust or some binding in the brake or parking brake mechanism.

This does sound more like your rear differential is looking up. Try changing out your fluids and see if that helps the condition (if you haven't already, cause your post says you just checked them).

Not sure if this could be the issue, but I know there was a recall on some of the rear differentials. Could be locking up, just a thought.

Never knew there was a recall on this. I'll have to go check it out at the dealer when I have a chance.

Did you check the brake pedal itself? Ive never heard of anything like this happening before.

Brake pedal feels no different as it was before.

This was one of the first things that I've checked.

I've took the brake pads off to inspect and they seem fine also check calipers not to sure how to check it but they seem fine also. seals around the piston caliper looks good and cleaned it too. I had a buddy drive it to get his opinion and he says he smells brakes but I don't.

I've change it to redline heavyshock proof in the transfer case and diff about 3 months ago.

id say the ebrake is locking up.. drive it for a while when it is acting up and then get out and put your hand close to each wheel... if one is hotter than the others than that one is dragging

From the sound of your original post, and correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to happen around the times when you press the clutch pedal?

If this is the case, would be a bit bizarre, but perhaps something with the clutch is sticking / binding.

Burnt clutch will smell very similar to brakes, if your friend did indeed smell something.
