The first time we brought my car to the smog station, The car passed everything the first time including emission, visual, ETC... but the only thing that made if fail is the freankin CEL bulb was busted. (I was there)

It was working before but but I didn't realize that it got busted.:beatentodeath:

The second time my dad brought it to the smog station to test it, (fixed CEL bulb) my dad told me when he got home that it failed again. In not sure what they did different cause I wasnt there. The tech guy said the CEL is supposed to be on when the key is on "ON" position and only dies when the engine is running. The tech guy then put an OBD II code reader, then the code for the knock sensor poped up P0 something(ill edit when I find the paper) (exactly what my dad told me)

What do you guys suggest me to do? I have 1 more chance out of the other two thats been used. I want to make sure that Ill pass the last time cause I dont want to pay for the whole thing again and I only have less then $100 left. (high school student and job less)

Didn't you just say the technician pulled a knock sensor code from the ECU?

yea, something like that.

Do you guys think taking out the baterry and reseting the ECU will make it go away? We're off to the smog station tomorrow morning.

Ive checked the knock sensor already, took it out, cleaned it abit and put it back. Will that help?

The problem with resetting the code either by unpluggin the battery or using a scanner is that your OBDII readiness monitors will be reset as well. You are only allowed to have a maximum of two monitors incomplete during the test and guess what; you have no way of knowing beforehand how many monitors you've cleared.

You can go ahead and try to clear the code, but you'll have to drive the car at least 100 miles at various conditions to get those monitors to complete; otherwise you'll just fail again.

its a 95, they don't have to do the readiness test, because it does not get tested as OBDII

yea i know this thread is a little old but i wanted to say so any ways LOL
