Well I'm changing out my master and slave and everything has gone according to plan, except now I can't get off the eyebolt on the metal clutch line that leads to the master.
I've heated it with a lighter (all i got), used massive amounts of pb blaster, and the thing won't budge.

To make matters worse, my 10mm wrench would rather strip and bend up the metal on that bolt than to break it free. I'm pretty much screwed unless I can remove that bolt and install my new master.

I need a hand!!

Go get a "Line wrench" mainly used for brake lines. It's made to fit over the line and since it's more of a C shape than a U it dosn't tend to slip and round the nut. If all else fails there's always vise grips They won't slip and you can always use them to tighten the nut back up.

Agree on the line wrench, aka Flare Nut Wrench. They look like this:

They're exceptional at working on fuel lines and hard oil lines.

If they don't, Sears definitely does! They're pretty awesome :D

YEs..that was my mistake when I was trying to replace my master. I kept rounding off the damn nut with my 10mm wrench.
You misunderstood, I was stating he should get a metric flare nut wrench set. That way he can use them on the full lines later when doing the full pump or the brake lines, or any nut/bolt that is torqued/rusted etc.

The eyebolt is a 10mm, he should use a 10mm flare nut wrench, not a 3/8" flare nut wrench.

Don't worry guys I picked up the correct wrench. :thumb:

But this is just getting to be absurd. Now my 10mm Flare Nut Wrench, or line wrench, is stripping the bolt. It just won't come loose.

Is there anyway I can replace that entire line? or cut it and add another nut so I can attach it to my Master?

I really need to get my car working and is very upsetting to be thwarted by a single 10mm bolt.

I would buy a small propane torch or something if I thought it would help me out. But wouldn't the extra heat make the nut strip easier? It's already stripping with the line wrench. Also, would it not be too much a of a hazard to have that kind of heat in my engine bay? there are lots of rubber lines and the fuel pressure solenoid is in that area too..

your posts are always welcome :thumb:

Thing is it's very tough to get the line wrench in that cramped space, let alone vice grips.
Also I cannot get the vice grips tight enough nor at the appropriate angle to prevent further stripping.

:tease: 2G.

If all else fail, try and locate one in the junkyard or call Gary at Mitsugraveyard so you can cut the line and be over with.

Called him, he doesnt ahve the parts but he recomended to me that I could aquire a section of line from him and use compression fittings to join the lines together.
Sounds a little macgyver-esque but might work.

All this for a stupid bolt..

( I honestly don't see myself 'jury-rigging' up a section of line for this, nor do I see it as my best alternative )
Thanks for the idea though!

Well, I just have to keep trying. I'm determined to solve at least one of your problems one of these days. :) Good luck on this one.

Thanks guys,
75 bones is steeeeep though. But I also want my car to work REAL bad.

Does anyone else sell such a kit? if so I'll chop those lines and bend em all to hell and love EVERY minute of it right now!

I got a little too excited at the thought of destroying that which has plagued me and prevented me form driving my car.
So I bought the stuff from SBR, 82 bucks!! oh well I hope it's worth it.

*gets out tin snips and goes out to the garage*
