hey guys i am having extreme power loss, my car is 2g with s16g with all supporting mods, and the car does not pull AT ALL in boost  i noticed a exhuast leak out from the head to exhaust manifold, but i am having my concerns that that is not my complete problem, my turbo is good, no shaft play, and no smoke, and spins freely, my hardpiping and couplers are all good, and my boost gauge still reads the 18-19 psi that i have it set for, the boost gauge is hooked up off the intake mani and fpr and has been very accurate, also, my bov isnt blowing off correctly , its barley sneezing,
Please Help !!!! and input you guys can give will be a big help

there is no boost leaks , any other ideas? some one said somthing about it pulling timing but even if its pulling timing, and the boost is reading right the timing wouldnt effect the blow off would it ?

no logger yet, and not an actual boost leak test, just went over everything , and if its reading full boost and the boost gauge is coming off the intake mani thats reading the boost going into the motor right?? im very confused ???

just because u read full boost on the gauge doent mean that you dont have a boost leak. remember the waste gate will not open until the pressure in the piping is at your setting of 18 so your turbo could be boosting twice that but bleeding off half. you need to do a proper boost leak test.

im still very confused, i know that the exhaust leak is a boost leak but if the gauge is reading doesnt that mean that the turbo is still spooling and the boost is still going through the piping and into the intake mani?

yes the turbo is spooling im not saying its not ok look the turbo is pumping air into the piping and intake manifold now somewere along the piping or intake manifold there is probably a leak now you will still get full boost even with one of these small leaks now if a pipe was completly diconected that would be a different story but im saying its probably a small leak. sorry im having a hard time explaining it to you over these posts.oh and do a compression test that will rule out the motor for the most part.

check this out.

this one is how to make your own boost leak tester.

no boost leaks anywhere other then the mani after test anyone know anything that could help???

An exhaust leak is not a boost leak. But yea, that will make it run like crap and throw off the fuel trims.

I had the same problem. Pulled off the manifold, and to my suprise guess what was plugging the whole to my turbo? The alignment ring. Dont know how it happend, but it didnt get into the turbo at all, and it was enough to block the entire hole.

Something to think about.

Its pre hotside leak, how do you figure? A leak at the manifold will cause air to leak out that could be used to spin the wheel faster. A pre turbo leak and a post turbo "exhaust" leak are completely different.

^Still not a boost leak...

Check ignition system as others have suggested (plugs, wires, cas, etc.) Use logger/scan tool to check for codes. Turn the boost down if you have no way to see if timing is being pulled. You could be running lean and knocking. If problem goes away at lower boost level check fuel system. If all else fails do a compression test.

plugs are good, compression is good, i just got a new manifold and gasket today and i got new wires, so if this doesnt fix it , i am in a complete stump
