anyone put this on? im curious as to what all is involved. i have a 92, so i need a cooler, and lilnes and stuff. and im not sure i fully understand the "-an" fittings. apparently this cooler bolts right up, and i run a line out to a air cooler, and a line from it, back into the housing. Seems simple enough.

After a LOT of search I still didn't finded the part number of the external oil cooler housing for 7bolts (from EVO I think). I have a 95 and I want to install a external oil cooler. But I live in brazil, so I need de part number to buy from mitsu.
If anyone knows please reply

does that move the filter ? and do i need to do something else besides get the cooler and lines?

I would love to know if the housing also has internal thermostatic control to prevent cooling the oil TOO much.
I'm getting mixed results on my search for that answer.
If someone knows for sure, please post it.

If the housing does not bypass the external ports when cool, then those of us in colder climates (10deg outside right now) would need an external thermostat for the oil lines, such as ear-501erl from www.summitracing.com
Chilled oil is a bad thing.

No it does not!!! When you buy the oil cooler make sure its not too big or your oil could definetly not get warm enough for best use

You sure about that ?
This image:

Shows a oil diagram with a bypass for the oil cooler when cold.

I already bought the 7-bolt housing...
I think it may have bypass built in.
Otherwise, whatever EVO this thing came from, would have to have an external thermostatic switch....
Something that I doubt.
Wheels-a-turnin - what makes you so sure ?

I'm in the process of rebuilding a turbo 6-bolt for a turbo conversion, however I would like to put my 90 oil cooler, lines, and housing on my nt until I get the turbo motor in there. Will this work? Both motors are 6-bolts

Mike,
According to that article, yes. I also believe that is no problem.
What I find hard to believe, is that the 89-90 housings for external oil coolers, had a thermostatic bypass, but the EVO ones for the 7-bolt that MACH V and others are selling don't.

Yes it does come with the "internal thermostatic control".

My question is what size oil cooler are you guys using with this setup?

I was looking at the Setrab coolers but I'm not sure where to buy one or what size to get. Suggestions?

Kristmen - I am using a setrab cooler on my 6 bolt - I got it from bakerprecision.com (http://www.bakerprecision.com/setrab.htm) I believe mine was the 125-10 - this was two years ago - I also ordered a 1990 oil filter housing from Connicelli Mitsubishi at the time- I have had no cold oil problems since I let the car warm up before hitting highway speeds in the winter - I also used Aeroquip press on oil hose & 10 AN aluminum fittings - its less expensive than stainless steel hose & fittings.

Ya those both might be a bit overkill for what I'm going to do with my car.

I was thinking more like this model:

119 - 8 5 3/4" 8 1/4" 19 - 8 AN $155.00

119 is half the size of 619 and 8AN has too restrictive fittings. 119 is no better than the stock ’90 cooler being roughly the same overall size.
I had all three of these with both 8AN and 10AN and the 619 with 10AN worked best. You can never have a cooler that is too big, especially in a confined space like our cars provide. Plus the thermostat will take care of regulating the oil temperature.
Mitch.

I am deciding on the following two coolers....

http://www.elephantracing.com/oilhandling/setraboilcooler.htm

1-STD125

and

http://store.summitracing.com/defau...N=100&Ntk=PartSearch&Ntt=ear-41610erl&x=0&y=0

The earl cooler seems to be an excellent design, like the setrab.

I would like to go -10AN, but -8AN parts might be free (father is aircraft mechanic), and he assures me -8AN is more than enough flow.

I have made a carboard model of the earl cooler (5x13x2), and will look at placement behind the driver side intake later this week. For -10AN the radius for a proper bend is much larger than -8AN, so you may need 90deg fittings that you wouldn't need for the -8AN lines.

Hope that helps.

Suparata - I'm going to take your word for it, since your a wiseman !
