External door unlock switch

hey guys i was wondering how i would go about adding an external switch i can hide somewhere externaly on the car to unlock my doors. the previous owner failed to mention that the key for the ignition isnt the same for the doors/trunk.

one so that when i flip the switch it would engage the doors to unlock

(im a cheap bastard who doesnt want to go to a retailer to get a key made for the vin) (also dont know if the outside door locks even work )

Get a remote instead. While either option is simple enough to install (DSM door locks are operated by two wires each) it really won't be good if someone sees that you are reaching somewhere before entering the car. That might make it easier for someone to snatch something out of it. Although you can always put a reed switch (magnetically activated switch) behind a non-metal panel and wear a magnetic ring to activate it and noone would know how you unlock the doors, but a remote would still be a safer option IMO.

In a bit more detail, a 1G DSM door lock is nothing more than a small electric motor and a gear box. Spinning the motor one way moves the gears and a little arm that pulls on a linkage that locks the lock. Spinning the motor the other way unlocks it.

Also since trunk/hatch did not come with an electric lock you'd have to get an actuator if you want to use a remote or a switch with it.

Call up a locksmith near you all you have to do is get them the lock code you pull the pasanger lock cylinder out and there is a key code on the side of it that is all they will need i had to get one made it cost me 15$ the guy came right to me and cut the key in his van and gave it to me to try it worked perfect

I like your idea, but your setting yourself up for being robbed!

In my current car the trunk, and drivers door would not unlock, like the key was wrong. I took out the tumblers, cleaned them, lubed, put them back in, problem solved! SO make sure it's your key and not just stuck key cylinders!

Get the wireless remote, replace the locks, get a key made for the vin " you still might be SOL if owner changed locks"
