exhaust smoke

hwhen i start my car i can rev n let of n fan and it will puff a 1 sec puff of smoke then stop , i raced a corvette and we were doin about 130 oin the istate for around 5 mins thats 5500 rpm min and then it was leakin a lil oil the intercooler had oil in it also.... so does the turbo have blowby could that cause it ??? or piston rings how do i check ?

yah my bad i was in a real hurry but how do i do a compression check ???

Its cool just hard to read. Compression test:


1) you need a compression tester ( Pep Boys, Napa, any autoparts store) 15-40 bucks
2) drive the car around, and sorta beat on it. Get on it alot, and warm it up nice. You will get a better reading than just idle to normal temp
3) Remove all Spark Plugs
4) Go into the fuse box under the hood attatched to the battery, and take out the MPI Fuse
5) thread the compression tester into each cylinder
6) have someone crank over the car AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE several revolutions, or until the guage stops climbing. Were is stops is ur compression # in that cylinder
7) Repeat in that order for the next 3 cylinders




Stock 1G Turbo Compression is 160
Service limit is 120 ( i think)

i am gonna get one as soon as i get to my house , i liiked at it today and it didnt smoke , what does that mean it only happened one time/... maybe in the morning whne i try it we'll see....

smoke is white definately not blue.

Could be a headgasket but maybe not.

Check for oil in your coolant and do the compression test.

ok i will do the comp test and my car leaks oil btw .... but yea it needs a new head gasket i am told. .. umm what if it isnt that tho.... i'm gonna go check teh coolant right now. then go to napa n fetch me a compression checker.

You could still be burning coolant and have those compression results.

but i got a 2g and that is horrible comp results thing is wasnt completely warmed up n i didnt cut the fuel....

yeah same here, all I did was warm up the car. I didn't have time since I did it right before I got ready for work. The only thing I disconnected was the coil, and I didn't crank it with it at WOT, I just cranked it. I still got 165 across the board.
