exhaust smoke

I was racing my friends gti (BOV, Intake) yesterday with my tsi awd (Tsi - BOV). He said he saw some black smoke coming out of my car, on two separate occasions. Not thick black smoke, but noticeable. Ive heard turbo'd cars are known for this but it doesn't make me any more comfortable with it happening. Btw, he was able too see it because he was three car lengths behind me.

Good job on the 3 car lengths, and yes it is very common for a turbo'd car to let out some black smoke when your going full throttle.

same thing with my car happens, possible boost leak? mine leaves a sh*t load of black stuff on my rear bumper after a couple weeks of driving.

Dont worry about the black smoke... get worried when the smoke gets white or some kind blue

Anyway, black smoke is uncombusted fuel.

A. It was at LEAST three car lengths.
B. Yes he did get two out of 3... the first time was within the first week of me driving stick, when I didnt know what the hell to do, i was already in fourth and didnt even think to down shift I just hit the gas.

The second time he "beat" me i was already coasting at a low rpm in a high gear and he decided to just step on it when he was behind me while i wasnt paying attention, ass soon as i saw him pulling on me i downshifted but it was too late
