My 3" catback is under the arm. Why are you changing to a 3"? I'm an advocate against these type of decisions unless you're not satisfied with your exhaust system (for whatever reason) or you're making more than 450 whp. For the record, I run a 2.5" dp/tp to a 3" catback :sneaky:

He makes a good point.. unless your throwing down enough horsepower to make use of the 3 inches... then there is no point... Though... a real thought is too do the 3 inches now for your future mods... To answer your question... MOST 3 inches go under and use good hangers... its hard to fit 3 inches where the stock was...

Resonator and 2.5 around the Axles is possible... i've installed a couple 2.5's under the axles....

My Apexi N1 is 3" and like most/all other system of that size, it runs under the rear cross member instead of over like the factory system. Why are people saying 3" is to big? Most of the time people are upgrading turbos anyways but a 3" system is still a good idea even on the factory t25. Were talkin turbo cars here not NA, less back pressure is always better in a turbo car.

There's really no difference between going under the rear axle or over. You will not feel or notice a difference unless you're running a 10- second car.

Not to mention if you go under you start restricting your suspension options (someone please correct me on this if it's not true... it just kind of makes sense in my head at the moment from what I remember of the rear axle setup.)

As far as restricting your suspension options, this wont come into effect going over top the cross member as that cross member is attached to the body and its height wont change with changes in suspension but yes going under can effect things if the exhaust system hangs down low.

read: swaybar. Routing the exhaust under the crossmember won't be an issue as long as the clearance is tight. If you have a pipe hanging low off of the crossmember, you're going to have problems if you have a bouncy (travel wise) suspension and/or your car is slammed.

I have a full 3" off the o2 housing that uses all stock hangers and is a cleaner path out of the car than the stock exhaust. It was completely custom and the guy made it using a template of the underside of a 1gb AWD.
Sound wise...I have no cat, no resonators and a APEX N1 muffler. Its pretty quiet with the silencer in - with it out its now uber throaty and you can hear the turbo through the exhaust. Not ideal for noise controlled areas.
