So im in the market for a new exhaust manifold... and im been looking and searching for threads on the new gt manifold and have come up empty handed... i know i know most of you will say to just stick with a ported 2g.. but im not really about buying used parts from unknowns... so ive found two such products ive been looking at... now both of them are a far cry from the new SBR cast mani, but they look as if they will hold there own! but im looking for something a little cheaper.. here they are...

The first is The speed factors "cast manifold".
http://www.thespeedfactor.com/mani_dsm2.html

The other is Turbochargers.com's "GT" manifold
http://www.turbochargers.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=121

Has anyone had any experiance with either of these products??? i like both of them and they also both come with install hardware, which is nice(although i already have a mitsu exhaust mani gasket). Im trying to budget on a manifold, preferably a new one... and these are both cheap... I just want to here from some people with first hand experiance.:thumb: :talon:

You can find used 2g fully ported manifolds all day long on here for $100-150 or so. I got a used first run on SBRs cast mani for $150 shipped on here.

thats the thing though.. i want something new.. and im willing to pay the extra 50 bucks for a new manifold... one of the 2 choices above that is... i want to know if anyone has had any experiance with the ones at hand ??? :talon:

i can tell you from experience that i bought the turbochargers manifold and it will outperform any ported 2g manifold by far. I compared the turbo housing alone its alot bigger...think about it...u get all new studs, bolts, exhaust manifold gaskets and manifold for 145 shipped w/warantee against cracking...how can you lose? im very happy with mine. Evo GT manifold for the win. il be purchasing the turbo as well.

youre making this harder than it has to be. A brand new ported evo III mani will work just fine on a car that runs 10's or a car that runs 14's. Theyre out there for 160 plus shipping.

I wouldn't buy from either of those two companies you posted.

I have the EVO III as well from turbochargers and it's a great piece.

Why? Those are both extremely reputable companies that sell great products.

I have the speed factor's manifold on the way. If I notice anything worth mentioning during inspection/install/use, I'll post something up.

I think im going to go with the GT manifold from turbochargers.com. they have a warrenty... and it comes with all hardware to install it... i dont think you can go wrong with that... id still like to hear from people with experiance with this manifold. :thumb:

what is wrong with your pacesetter manifold? if that has not cracked, it should give you better top end. i have one as well and it has not cracked after almost a year, then again, the water lines and oil lines help in carrying the small 14b. if you are planning on upgrading to anything that does not use the stock feed and return lines and is heavier(which is almost everything, other then the 16g) you should then get the cast manifold, but until then this should reep a few more horses.

The pacestters were great for about 3 months... and now there cracked.. i havnt drivin the car all winter and i wanna get a new manifold on there before i get her back on the road, because the manifold is leaking alot and im losing power. i was thinkin about gettin them re-welded... but id rather not go threw that hasle...i always wanna stock kind of manifold so i can put the heat shield back on to make my engine bay look a little more clean... speaking of which... What Heat shield will fit the GT manifold if i wanted to put one on ??? does any one know??

Not sure about the turbochargers.com mani from the pic but the speed factor units looks the same as the origional SBR cast mani's. If so I'd say thats a great buy. I bought one of the origional style SBR units (because my 2g divider had some cracks & was a good excuse to upgrade) and internally it is huge compared to the 2g in both runner size and collector area. I think I paid $220 or so just for the mani so thats looks like a great deal. The only thing I would be concerned about is what their cast from so you know how well it will stand up against cracking. I haven't seen any posts of this being an issue so you should be fine, just something I'd want to know before making a purchase.

yeah the one from the speed factor looks more like the SBR piece... and it also comes pre- drilled and tapped for an egt gauge... Which i like because this means less work for me, because i plan on getting an egt gauge and probe installed before that manifold goes on..

Both manifolds come pre-tapped for the EGT. Either way you can't go wrong for the price.

has anyone asked my he isn't considering the new SBR cast manny. if price isn't that big of a concern i'd go with that. predrilled and tapped, and has a cast spot for an external wastegate. or just a new REAL evoIII manny. Personally i have a semi ported 2g and thats fine for me.

Thats just the thing price is a big factor... but also i want something new... not a used 2g manifold...

I didnt see were it said the manifold from turbochargers.com was tapped for an egt probe... do you just know that from prior experiance???

I can't say personally, but my friend purchased an evo 3 gt manifold in November i believe and it has worked excellent. I dont believe though it was tapped when he got it , but there is a good chance i could be wrong.

aight... well thanks guys. i think either of these manifolds would be a great buy.. so i think im going to stick with the lower price and go with the gt manifold from turbochargers.com.... again thanks for all your help.:thumb:

went ahead and got the speed factor one. i just feel more secure paying a little extra because i have heard a lot of good things about the speed factor and not so great things about turbochargers.com. especially when it comes to honoring their warranties.

Hello these are same manifolds..cheaper on turbocharger.com site.I got mine from speed factor but its the same manifold. It looks fine and if it messes up then go to ported evo the one was going to get in the first place.
