i was working on my car today, and it sounded a bit louder than normal. i checked the manifold and down pipe, they are fine, no leaks. i went a little farther underneath the car, and can feel a steady stream of exhaust flowing out the side of my flex pipe. and i could see that when i had it up on a lift a few weeks ago, that one side of it is torn apart. it just started getting worse today. is my only option getting a new section of flex pipe? can i use exhaust wrap/bandage on it? anything that can help me temporarily, or at least until i can get a job. thanks guys.

You could take it to a muffler shop and see if they have any ideas. They might be able to weld in a new flex section for relatively cheap.

alright thanks...i decided to try it for now and see how long it will last...i bought some 1200 degree stuff from autozone...ill probably throw it on my neighbors lift and fix it...im just trying to fix it cuz i can sometimes faintly smell exhaust inside my car, which wont be good in the winter...ill let you guys know how it works...

It's definitely not healthy for you, because carbon monoxide (CO, a product of gasoline combustion) can leak into your cab. When you breathe it in, it builds up in your system and deprives your body and brain of oxygen (it replaces the oxygen carried by your red blood cells with CO).

Get it fixed! If you're sitting at a light and start to feel lightheaded, pull over, turn the car off and chill for awhile.

i know....i tried looking through the sponsored sites, but i can never seem to find the right place...i once found a place that sold a magnaflow muffler that i wanted, but then the next day couldnt find it....and i had found a site with tons of just the flex pipe, but now i cant seem to find it....i think i have alsheimers or something....

All the carbon monoxide has already killed off the braincells that were storing the name of the website you're trying to remember ;)

  well I put it up on the lift and found some more bad news. I saw that my downpipe connection to the flex pipe is messed up, and then after the flex pipe is screwed up too. So it looks like I will need a whole new exhaust system, since all of it is rusting and breaking. I put the bandage on, and it made it a little quieter, so its a tiny bit better, but I gotta find the web sites and get this fixed before I do more damage.
