Ok, i bought a custom made exhaust from a guy who was parting his car. 3 inch turbo back. It is 2.5 at the flange and expands to 3 right before it turns to point to the back of the car. It theWorks great and everything, but the downpipe flex section touches the oil pan. Will i eventually have a problem, and is that bad for the pan? Also should i heat wrap it?

Also when i start the car i can feel the exhaust hitting the floorpan beneath my feet, obviously the flex section isn't doing it's job. The exhaust is hung by the 2 hangers after the cat, one by the rear right axle and one by the muffler. I guess i could buy some straps and hang it from the metal piece attached to the car before the cat (where the hanger attaches). This would only stop it from falling, and not from hitting the car. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, does loktite smell bad when it burns, because i loc-tited a 02 sensor housing stud in and now the engine bay has a little white smoke coming out and a bad smell when i have just ran the car? LOL

Having any part of your DP touching your oilpan is BAD. Your DP gets hot enough to make fires, heating oil to that temp is a BAD idea. Heatwrap is futile, it will eventually wear through, not to mention get torn apart by road debris. You should be looking to buy a proper DP that fits.

I definatly would except the whole ehaust is custom and i can't just buy a downpipe and bolt it up. because this exhaust isn't flanged and might not even be aligned the right way for that. So i am thinking of doing this...

I looked at RRE's website and they use 2.5 to the flex and then 3 from there back because of "clearance issues" I wish the guy that made the exhaust had read this. Anywaysif i replace the forst bend with 2.5 and then expand it , it should work right? Here is what i am planning to do...

The top one is how it is now, the bottom is what im planning to make it.

while that is one way to do it, if you have it done properly, 3" fits just perfectly to the stock location (it's that way on my vr-4, with no neck down to 2.5")

fwiw.
