So I am going to be buying a exaust manifold soon but I have a few options,

ebay tubular mani's (that i can weld support brackets on) and use heat wrap
-$130ish

or the FP race mani - but i hear exaust temps will limit how much hp it give you.

Is going ebay worth the money i will save, about $200

anyways what will work better for a e316g because i will also be picking that up too.

thanks.

Exactly, a ported 2g manifold will work sufficiently. That is what I am running on my car right now. If you have the money and are dead set on upgrading your manifold then I suggest the FP race manifold like I stated earlier over an ebay tubular one.

The Evo3 Manifold Sells for less than a new 2g manifold, and only a little more than the ebay crap manifold. I think you should either go Evo3 or spring the extra money and get the FP which is probably about the best manifold available for our cars.

Well, he probably already has a 2g manifold on his car, so it wouldn't cost anything if he ported it himself.

The FP race mani is very nice, I have one myself. OP- the FP manifold isn't going to create nearly as much heat as a tubular manifold will.

yeah i know but i would heat wrap it. other wise i have to buy a new heatshield or ziptie my current heatshield. and how bad could the cheap ebay 1 be like i would weld alot on it for support and wrap it. is a fp 1 really worth the extra 200+ heatshield ?

My buddy Tony went 10.7s on a bone stock unported 2g manifold, spend your money on something else!

Any of the options listed above will work just fine EXCEPT for the ebay manifold! I have seen so many of these crack and fall apart no matter how much support you give them. As usual, you get what you pay for.

I run the fp mani and is a great buy. But like others said porting you exsisting manifold could be your best bet. The ebay mani may be the cheapest right now but in a 1000 miles when it start to crack then what do you do buy another one or buy the fp then. My point being saving money now doesnt nessisarily save you money. Port yours and go from there = 0$. My .02.

I'm always wary of eBay junk, too many people have been burned.

My vote is for FP, that's what I'm running right now. It may be a little more expensive, but it's a great piece with a reputable company standing behind it.

I love my FP.

I've had that thing looking like a red glowstick (took about 30-40 seconds to return to regular color) after multiple back to back race gas pulls. Never had a problem.

I'm pretty sure i would have killed an ebay tubular long ago. And the FP flows just as well as most tubulars.

The fp mani seems to crack as often as the ebay's. After my stocker cracked in four places, I picked up a ebay mani for $60. The butt dyno noticed a little more go and spool dropped maybe 2-300 rpm.

Anyway sometime and many miles later it was a great $60 upgrade.

uhh, no. The fp mani rarely cracks.

Back to the topic at hand:

I've been contemplating giving the ebay manifold a shot.

Hell, I can buy three of them and when they crack just swap it out ROFLROFL

I know that all the ebay manifolds have the reputation of cracking, but I've seen a few new ones recently that dont look too bad.

I know looks dont mean anything, but one of the new one's Ive seen has support tabs welded all over it. It LOOKS like a decent piece, but again the metal and welds could be junk.

On my GSX I am going all out, but my talon has been my DD for the last 6 years. The goal is to have a high 12-second/ low 13 second daily driver. I think I'm going to give one of the newer e-bay manifolds a shot and see what happens.

yea, thats one mani. And you cant even compare the fp mani cracking to ebay manifolds cracking.

Yea the one i picked up was pretty decent quality, nice tig welds, had extra supports welded in where they're prone to cracking. I touched up one spot before installing and im a welder by trade so no biggy if it ever cracks. 20k miles and still going.

I've contemplated the FP manifold, but can't really afford it at the moment, and I don't think I would see any benefits with my current setup anyway. But given my personal experience with FP's products, I wouldn't worry too much about an isolated incident or two. Although a bit expensive, FP has excellent products and customer service IMHO.

I have to agree with half the members here, port your 2g mani. It has been proven to hold some high numbers, and it is FREE. Put that money into other mods/maintenance for your car.

I am running a ebay mani and it work great and i was able to take the money i saved and got a bigger turbo. Im new to dsm tuners but i have been in these cars since i was in high school. about the craking of the mani is no prob if it does happen it has not happen to mine and i would say i pushing 400 hp plus. im sick of people saying anything bad about people trying make new and cheap product for our car the have to start some where and why not give them a shot. Like godspeed new to the game and is puting out great products. dont listen to the people that are all about the what names the have under their hoods. with the 2g mani they crack easier the anything out and they send it off to get welded up. if the ebay one cracks just get it welded up for like 5 dollars so save the money and give some one a chance.

Haha, are you trying to say that the stock 2g exhaust manifolds crack more than tubular ebay manifolds do?
