Just a quick question, Does the flex section in the downpipe need to be there, im gettin one made tomorrow but i dont have a flex. Just wonderin if it would be a problem if it wasn't there?

yes you need one there if you don't have one there it will break your manifold or o2 housing.think about it for a min your motor does move some what and the exhaust is connected to it so if your exhaust doesn't move even a little bit one day ull break the manifold or the o2 housing. :nono:

the exhaust on my car has been on 2 other cars... no flex section, u should be fine, yes the exhaust must move, but ur hangers r made of rubber... rubber will flex, not as well ast the flex section but it should do the job

I know what the flex section does, i should have specified that in my orig. post, i just wanted an opinion as to wether or not the hangers would be sufficient enough as room for the exaust to move. I know i should do things right the 1st time, but im not goin to pay an extra 50 bucks for somethin if i dont have to :)

ahh i forgot the stock down pipe is connected to the block.(hewhoisknot) is right you should be ok for now but it will happen trust me iv heard way to much about this .

as far as i know, just had the exaust apart, the dp isnt connected to anything but a hanger and the o2 housing. But, thanks for all the input. Lol, uh, actually what size dp should i get..LOL a 2.5 (rest of exaust is 2.5) or a 3in. + a test pipe?

go with the 2.5 since the rest is 2.5 ull be good to go.+test pipe...you dont wont to miss match it do to the fact you might get some leaks down the road...like im goin through right now.

You do need one, just think of the money mitsu would have saved by not putting them in. they aren't there to stop your manifold cracking they are there to stop breaking the manifold studs and constant changing of the manifold gaskets
