exaust question

I'm getting a 1g Turbo FWD Talon. I was wondering what the best size exaust is, 2.5inch or 3inch. I know the 3 inch probably sounds better, but I heard that it hurts the spool time on the turbo. I'm not planning on upgrading the turbo anytime soon, as I'm only looking for low 13's, so what's the best size with the stock turbo?. Thanks.

2.5. It should work if your not planning on upgrading the turbo.

2.5" will be enough. I'm going with a cheap 2.5" exhaust when I get my next paycheck. I'm getting a 2.5" downpipe and 2.5" pipe with round magnaflow muffler where the cat used to be and dump it before the rear axle. To get everything installed it'll hit me around $100 not including the price of the muffler and down pipe.

Also 2.5" should be enough if you plan on running some kind of o2 dump. Hope I helped

So with the downpipe I should get the same size as whatever cat-back I'm using? And does anyone know a site where I can get a decent cat-back for around 300-400 dollars?

go with 3 inch, it beats having to upgrade your 2.5inch exhaust later, like i ended up doing

sarge is right, you dont want to have to waste your money buying two exhaust systems, but if you're not going to be upgrading to a larger turbo then a 2.5 will do its job well

I have an 'upgraded turbo' 16g, And i have a 2 1/2" turbo back with test pipe? 2 1/2" is good up to like 400hp i've read somewhere. Also, RnR is pretty low cost!

Shouldn't he change out his o2 housing or at least port out his existing 1G?

I am on the 14b. I had a 2.5 inch exhaust on my car for a while. One of my buddies got some time and he did up a 3 inch exhaust for me. I can tell you there was a really big difference, alot more power over the 2.5 inch exhaust. I would go with 3" off the bat if there is any doubt in your mind at all. Do it once do it right. Dont cheap out it isnt that much more, save for a couple more weeks...you'll be happy you did.

Just get 3" and be done with it. If you get a 2.5" and reach your low 13's goal, you won't stop there. You'll want 12's. You'll then wish you bought a 3". Just get a 3" and be done with it. It's worth it in the end when you don't have to re-buy another exhaust. Like someone previously said, RnR is priced very nicely. Check em out.
