EvoIII Big16G Questions

Hey... Ok... Thursday my ForcedProformance EvoIII Big16G Package4 shows up. Now I been told a hundred things. I have spent a pretty good amount of money on this turbo kit. So I want to make sure its going to be safe. I did a compression test on my car... I have cyl. 4 & 1 getting 150psi. Now 2 has like 145psi and 3 has about 130psi... Now I know that not good .. But good enough i have 90k on the car. Now I'm doin this kit which includes Walbro255, Evo3 O2 Porting, MBC, Ported EvoIII Big16g and full gasket along wit SS Oil Lines. I already got the Jpipe and the Coolant lines. NOw... what else do I need? Can I run it on stock Injectors without SAFC. I was going to get the car tuned and dyno'ed after turbo install.... So... I dont have the money for SAFC right now, nor injectors.. Please tell me what I should set the car to till I can afford to pick that shit up!

You'll be o.k. without the injectors and safc for now unless you really wanna turn the boost up, then you should look into them.

This might be a stupid question, but without an SAFC, how was it going to be tuned??? And from your mod list I think it says you got the evo o2 housing??? You know that wont bolt onto your stock downpipe...don't you?

The ECU will determine the fuel maps based on the amount of air you inject, same as on the original turbo.

If you exceed the stock ECU's/injector's/fuel pump's limits, you'll kill your engine. The idea is to know your limits.

Your ignition system is fine for your Evo16G.

You have to run less boost with that setup. Stay arond the 12psi mark till you get fuel for it.

Once you get the money an S-AFCII and Injectors are a must. Along with something to tune it with (pocketlogger).

You are going to quickly over run your stock FPR with that 255. Chances are it is the Highpressure unit. You will need an AFPR to keep it in check.


Be carefull. I waited 6 months to put my setup in. That was worth it to me, in order notto blow my DSM to the junkyard. Take it easy, and get it done RIGHT.

Although if you're VERY careful you can maybe get away with putting it all in now, if you also get the AFPR like midnght said. I would go so far as to say just run a line from the boost source for the MBC straight to the wastegate actuator nipple (don't use the MBC yet) so that you only boost about 10-11 PSI. Any higher than that and you'll probably hit fuel cut anyway.

I have a MeganRacing 3" DownPipe that I'm going to be using wit this setup which was already on my car b4... Just not bolted up propely since the stock O2 doesn't come close in size. Now my friend is saying not to run more then 8-10psi on this turbo setup. And I was told my a local tuning shop to bring it in for tuning. They said they can tune the Timming and ish.. But not the fuel yet since I dont have the proper stuff to do that yet. So I need 550cc injectors, PocketLogger, FPR, and SAFC-2. But till I can buy tho's... Keep it easy, have fun, but dont push it... Type of ish.... and run 10-12 psi... By running the boost lines like the stock setup???

Run stock boost and setup, and you'll be fine.

You could probably up it a bit, but I wouldn't without a logger.
