Does anyone know what will flow more...a ported EVOIII 16G or a ported and clipped 20G?

Would it be worth switching to the 20G if your already using the ported EVOIII?

The 20G will flow more, it is quite a bit larger than a 16g. It's hard to define "worth switching over" because it depends on your goals. The e316g will spool up like stock and is effecient to almost 400hp, the 20G will take a bit longer to spool up but will have much more top end. The 20G will be able to take you well into the 11's with a good tune and it is a very proven turbo. Your choice man.

I'm actually trying to find out more info on this for my friend. He is currently running the ported EVOIII and just had a short block built with Ross 8:3:1 pistons. The machine shop had to take a little off the block so they are saying it will be more like 8:6:1 compression. Plus he will have 272 cams and all the other necessary mods are done.

I guess what I mean by "will it be worth it" is since he already has the EVOIII will it be that much better for the money he would spend on getting a new 20G.

He is looking for close to 400 awhp and itsn't too concern about the spool time.

400awhp is possible on an e316g, but not easy at all. For 400awhp the 20G is proven to take you there and be reliable. It sounds like he has a pretty good build going on, a 20G will spool fairly quickly with the 272's also. Just out of curiosity why does he want to use the 20G? There are many other turbo's that are cheaper and slightly more effecient. A standard 50 trim should cost $800-900 and will very easilly make 400 awhp or more.

Another friend of ours is parting out his 2g and has a pretty new 20G that he can get for a good price.

So it would probably make sense for him to sell his evoIII and pick up the 20G.

Thanks for the help...I'll keep you posted. It will be a few weeks till he gets the new block and turbo together though.

I am in the process of breaking in a new SBR stock 6 bolt with balance shafts eliminated. Only got 200 miles on it but I'm can't wait to start tearing on it. :D

I'm just running a ported 14b with some solid supporting mods...check out my profile to see what i've got done. I'm hoping for low 13's this summer.

Thanks again.
