Evo8mas Or Gmmaf?

Ok so im getting ready to put my car all back together but i was wonder which would be easier to tune with the evomas or gmmaf blow through set up. Ill be running fic 850cc injectors, 9.1 c/r, hks 272 cams, holset hx 40 (6blade), 93 octane. i have everything i need to run either set up. So i was just wondering which would be the best.

if you are running evo8 MAF what will you be using to compinsate for the 850cc injectors? or do will you be chipping the ecu?

Keep in mind the intake pipe will cost around $100 for the 2g/evo mas with 4" inlet, unless you can fab one yourself. Obviously going to a GM maf has its expenses as well
You will also need to compensate the 2g/evo mas with the ecu whether its a custom eprom, safc, dsmlink,etc

Anyways the evo maf is a lot easier to tune. GM maf likes to have a "wondering tune". Afr's like to change a little when temps change. The evo maf is nice, but you have to keep it in front of the turbo. Its sometimes a pain to fit intake, maf, filter when running long UICP and you cant vent. IMO its a great way to go. I know someone that ran 1150's, e85, evo maf, safc and was flowing 60lb/min easy with no issues. Nothing but an safc to tune it with. The evo maf really leans the motor out.

A safc is not going to tune his 850s on 93octane. Nor is a maft.

One step forward 3 steps back, there are plenty of alternatives, and at the price of getting a evo maf / matf combo you might as well be running Jackal and have full fuel control.

Wow...If you took the time to check the profile, it says they have a chip already. Also the OP already stated in their original post, "I have everything to run either setup". They just want to know which would be easier to tune with.

In which case, my vote goes to Evo MAS. The GM MAF is very touchy when it comes to both temperature and humidity changes.

And if you do use it, don't use it in blow thru like everyone seems to think is the "ok" way to do it. If I were in your shoes, I'd honestly use the evo maf because IMO the GM is just garbage unless run PROPERLY in the draw-through configuration.

But, there are a lot of tuning "solutions" out there that will smooth the air flow signals coming from a gm maf being used in blow through. Smoothing signals is only a way of hiding how inaccurate the air meter is... it's the whole "you can put lipstick on a pig" thing.

why not just use the 2g Maf then? with Dsmlink V3 you can use fake maf with any maf thats at the point of being overran, Im still using my 2g maf at 3000+hz's

i dont want to worry about over running the maf, ive read on here awhile ago someones boost spiked and got detination and the motor blew

Evo maf. The only thing I dislike is the the 3 to 4 inch intake pipe I'm going to have to make or find for my hx-40.

thats why you should just go with the 2gmaf and a fp intake like i did, when i started to over run i just went to fake maf with a map sensor
