Question is, are evo8 pistons usable with 1g 6-bolt rods? My friend was telling me that he could egt some considerable cheap and he was pondering this idea so I though I'd throw it up here. Has it been done before? I've read in modified mag they evo8 pistons are forged and would be nice cheap engine upgrade. thanks for the input. :thumb: :talon:

The only thing that I see a problem with is that the EVO pistons are stock size and your bore is most likely out of round and needs to be machined to get it back in round so thats what I see. You do need to get the bores rehoned to get the rings to seat properly aswell so keep that in mind. I would go with wiescos or ross and do it right.

The evo8 pistons use a slightly different off set than DSM 4g63's. So no, they wont work.

that's right, because the engine turns the opposite way

Engine still turns clockwise regardless of which way it is facing! Its the inlet and ex' valve will be on the wrong sides of the piston crown, you will have to make sure the reliefs are big enough for piston to valve clearence. and the wrist pin size is 22mm?????

Ok, if the Evo 4G63 rotates clockwise no matter what way it is facing, it does turn the opposite way because the whole drivetrain is flipped around. So boosting4g63 is right in this instance.

BTW I don't know anything about the Evo 4g63, I was just bringing to light what was said.

thank you... and it does turn the opposite way because the I and E valve reliefs are on the opposite side of the piston.... therefore they will NOT work... just jump on the boat and get the 2g's... they work great and they're a fair price

All 4g63's rotate clockwise. End of story.

It does have the timing assembly on the passenger side of the car instead of the drivers side though.

Ok i give in! THEY DO ALL TURN CLOCKWISE! But does anyone know the real reason that Mitsubishi turn the engine around? It gets into physics so think before you answer!

Got caught on one of them years ago ajusting the valves i thought i was going crazy!. What i really meant in my previous thread was REAL! engines go clockwise whether they face east/west north or south!
