i was just curious to what everybody's opinion is on the 1g rods and 2g pistons set up, i'm rebuilding my extra 6bolt block to put in my 95 gst...thanx in advance :dsm:

I say it's a good combo if you can get the rods machined for under $70... Once you start looking at around $350+ for the 1G rods on 2G pistons it's almost better to go ahead and spend a little more and get some forged Pistons and put those on your 1G rods...

In my opinion, 1g rods/2g pistons will support more then enough power, then allot of dsm'ers will even make.....

especially if you get the rods shot-peened

what is shot peened, and how much hp do you think that set up could handle...this is a project car and i'm kinda wantin to go all out for the most part but don't want it all race style

there is recorded dyno numbers of 550 at the wheels with that setup...

and a well known dsm'er has ran a 10.5 in the qtr on that setup as well....

This is a good combo if you can keep it cost-affective. Once the machining costs start to add up, most realize its cheaper to just do forged internals.
