Is it possible to mount a stock EVo8 fmic on a 90 tsi? I know it will need custom piping. My uncle's friend upgraded his and needs to get rid of the stock one. Anyone have dimensions for it, or the name and model of the FMIC used?

Anything's possible.

It should fit since I don't think it's bigger then 24x12x3.5, It might be taller.

You can probably ask on www.evotuners.net  have someone measure it for you.

Everything I've read says the EVO8 I/C is a POS.

What turbo are you running? If it's a smaller one, I imagine it will work.

evo 8 ic is complete garbage. its only there to attract ricers.

Ok, I was correct then. Thanks dta :thumb:

Well, it has to be good for something, it may not be the most efficient FMIC, but if you can get it cheap enough it has to be better than our puny SMIC

wow it's been a whole 2 weeks now since someone posted this question or a similar one involving dsms and evo intercoolers  .... EVO 8 INTERCOOLERS sucks ... don't waste your time!!

No, what he is saying is that ricers with a lot of money will buy EVO's because then they can brag that they have a fmic... He means exactly what he said:

"fmic always equals fast to a ricer, no matter what."

Obviously the EVO IC is a slighly better than the 1G SMIC, or it wouldn't be able to handle almost 300 FWHP from the factory.

Remember, a big reason that the IC on the EVO isn't very effiecient is partly due to the shitty, million feet of IC piping. Some good mandrel piping would do great things for the IC core.

I say go for it if it is going to be pretty much free, minus some fabrication costs and some throwing of tools. The biggest factor that will make this a pain in the ass is weather or not you have enough sixers laying around to do the job right:D

I could get one (evo8 fmic) for free, and get custom piping done for free too. So why not pass this offer

It will work great for your application, free is even better.
"If it doesn't say spearco its no good" <- trend I'm starting to notice
Any intercooler especially a front mounted one is better than no intercooler :thumb:

As far as dimensions, they are 20x3x11 if I recall.

It's not that. Why would you go through all that work, just to realize it doesn't perform to your expectations?

If you REALLY want to, sure you can. Just don't use anything bigger than a 16G on it.
