I was wondering if nay of you have ever tried to use a evo3 trans with a 1g? Im pretty sure it would bolt right up but want to make sure. Im in the position of being able to purchase one for liek 400$. Id figure it would be a great upgrade over the jdm gvr4 trans due to the stronger internals nad a front lsd. What do you guys think/opinions?

Your gonna have to change the fiinal drive, Plus if its a OE LSD you will need the axle stubs to use it.

Or you can just swap in your front diff and pinoin. either way

what happens if you doesnt change either of the two?

Other than bringing back a 4-year old thread, it will destroy your center differential, burn out your viscous coupler, and potentially burn out your transfer case or rear end.

The front differential ring gear, and the output shaft pinion gear (and tapered roller bearings and races) on the Evo3 transmission are different tooth counts than all 1990-1999 DSM transmissions, and require replacement with the DSM ring gear and output pinion gear shaft to work properly.

Otherwise, you will bind up your transfer case, and your rear end since they will be running at a different ratio from the transmission. It will be not good for your drivetrain if you just install the transmission.

A qualified transmission builder can easily swap in these parts if you supply them for install.

Good luck.

should have added this but what is if I get the Evo 3 T-case too. would the same damage apply?

Thank you

Your rear differential gear ratio will still be different.

Just swap out the ring gear and pinion shaft. It isn't terrible. Then you can use your stock transfer case, etc.

The other option is getting the rear diff with the right ratio. I'm using a gvr4 rs tranny and that's what I did.
