2G Evo turbo on a 2nd Gen Eclipse??

Can anyone tell me if a turbo from the Evo VIII will bolt on or fit without major modifications onto a 1997 Eclipse GST? My friend has one he's trying to sell and I need to know if it will bolt right on before I buy it. Thank for the help.

Yes it will fit, but you need to purchase a 2g install kit.

If it's directly from an EVO VIII, then no. The cold and hot side are reversed from what we use. If it's an EVO III then the answer is yes (with the install kit).

Sorry, I didn't notice that it was an Evo 8 Turbo, I missed the V in front of the III. Oops.

It also utilizes a divided turbine housing design (aka twin-scroll).

ok thanks for the help but can anyone tell me what turbo will be an upgrade for my 97 eclipse gst that comes directly from a stock car because my friend works at a junkyard and all of the turbos that come off of the cars that are still good he can get me for really good prices so im looking to see if any turbos off of any other stock cars will fit mine such as imprezas, evo's, srt-4's, volkswagens, etc. but i want it to be an upgrade from the 14b turbo i have now....(yes i bought the car with a 14b turbo instead of the stock 16g)....thanks guys

Umm a stock turbo on a 2g is a t25 not a 16g.unless i read that wrong. Why not just keep a 14b and upgrade around it? I.E fuel system and intercooler, and exhaust and what not?

Actually, the stock 2g's come with a t25. The 14b is off of a 1g and is bigger then the t25. You can put some good power down with the 14b.

Get a 14B with no shaft play from a 90-94 DSM


All 2Gs come with a T25 and the 14B will make much more power than a wee lil T25.

You can also go with a 7cm housing on the 14b

The 14b is good for around 250-300hp depending on mods, Also you'll need a 2g install kit.
