is a evo16g a direct fit on a 1g? or do you need the 02 housing ive heard yea and no can somebody clarify this for me please

The Evo III 16G is a direct fit. If you use a 2G O2 housing with the turbo, you will notice some gasket differences and some issues that most folks fix with a carbide bit and sanding wheels.

The Evo III 02 Housing outlets at a slightly lesser angle and can make down pipes without a flex section tough to bolt on.

This is what im talking about. it has a angle difference does this cause any problems or certain modifications for it to bolt up? Heres my problem my 14b blew so i need a new turbo, everybody and there mom has a big16 so i wanted to go with the EVO but i already have a nice new 3inch DP and i know if i get the evo 02 i need a evo DP correct? So back to my original question. People with a 1g and a evo on it please help

I just blew the stock turbo on my 2g and was looking at a evo16g. So u say it will bolt right on?

using either the 1G or 2G o2 housing will put ALOT of stress on the downpipe because the angle is off, yes you can do it but after a while either the o2 housing or downpipe is gonna give.

heineken: No mitsubishi turbo will bolt on to a 2G ( we have a Garrett T-25) but it can be easily modified by buying a 2G install kit which included a jpipe, new feed line, return line, and gaskets. The only thing you have to do is bend your existing coolant lines :dsm:

jsut a 2g install kit? i thought i read elsewhere that an Evo O2 housing was necessary

With a little bit of porting you can match the 2G o2 housing you have already, right to the turbine outlet. Most folks due this rather than mess with the Evo O2 housing.

ok.. The turbo is a direct fit.. The turbo (in reference to bolt up angles is no different than a 14b) The outlet sizes are larger on the evo. But there is no "stress" put on the turbo or downpipe bye using the 16g. The only angle fitment issues are those when using the Evo III O2 housing. The angle is clocked different to the downpipe. The bolt pattern is wider at the downpipe as well.. The EVO O2 wont work with a stock downpipe. teh outlet is too large. But other than that.. the evo is a DIRECT bolt in.
