Will Evo 8 Fuel and timing trims work on a 2G?

I came across this thread from back in the day on Club DSM Canada: CA DSM thread, and it says that Evo 8 fuel and timing trims would be a good "upgrade" compared to the stock 2G tune as it runs slightly leaner. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this and has any experience tweaking the Evo maps to work with a 2G.

My concern is that the Evo has different injectors, MAF, turbo, boost levels, etc. so I'm kinda shocked that the people on that forum got it to work. Was this a common thing people would do back in the day? And is this still a viable way to start tuning?

I'll post up a log of my 3rd gear pull from 2500 to 6000, my AEM Wideband is saying 9.3 AFR at the lowest, and I believe I have the WB calibrated correctly (matches on the gauge and the log on ECMLink). I have a Megan Racing DP, 3 inch exhaust from the DP back, AEMWB from the rear O2 sensor slot, EGR delete and Injen intake pipe to the turbo and I have a feeling this may have richened up the AFR quite a bit from stock. (Correct me if I'm just completely wrong here)

I'll sum it up here:
Would Evo 8 fuel and timing trims work on a 2G even though an Evo has a different fuel and intake system? Is this a good way to start tuning a 2G?

I may have answered my own question here. But hey, just figured I would ask before I try for myself.

All responses are appreciated!

All the downloadable fuel/timing maps are just starting points, they aren't intended to be your final tune. Any will work if you want to put the work in an tune from it and find what your setup likes as every single car is different.

If your SD table and injectors are scaled correctly, it really doesn't matter if the map came from an Evo with different injectors/maf.

I see. That makes more sense. The people on that thread made it seem like I could just flash the trims over to ECMLink and it would be a free upgrade. So I assume it would be harder to tweak without upgrading to speed density? I'm planning on upgrading in the future but I'm just curious.

Seems like I should try to understand the basics of tuning on ECMLink before making any adjustments like that. Thank you for the reply!
