So I did some searching but couldn't come up with a satisfactory answer, will an evo 3 exhaust manifold bolt up to my stock turbo without any problems? I also have an automatic, I read on an ebay page that automatic DSMs can't use the evo manifold but I don't see why not if they are relatively similar, I know the collector is bigger so do I have to worry about trimming gaskets or can I just slap it all together and have it just work? The reason I ask is I have a small hole in my stock manifold and as long as I'm taking the effort to take the manifold off I might as well upgrade it. My eventual plans include a big T28 and I'm not after huge numbers or super impressive track times but faster is better.

You have a 2g it will be fine regardless of manual or auto, as long as you have a mitsu flanged it will bolt up like stock.

1g however manual and auto or different, but will bolt up to the 1g manual like stock.

As previously mentioned it will work fine since you have a 2g auto and not a 1g auto.

I was actually thinking about doing this in a couple weeks. However, I have decided against it. The reason is because the collector in the manifold is much bigger than the OEM 2G manifold. The exhaust gases will be partially hitting the T25 turbine housing like a brick wall. Unless you really ported out the turbine housing, I would not recommend this.

I am choosing to stay with my 2G manifold right now until I bump it up to the E316G. I am a strong believer in using the OEM sealing ring between the manifold and the turbo. Additionally, because you are still using the T25, I highly doubt you will see any improvements by using this manifold with that turbo.

However, since the 2G manifold is going in the trash, and you have no current alternative, then it will be sufficient. Don't forget to buy new exhaust studs for the install (not stainless steel).

why are you a strong believer of the oem sealing ring, once you get the evo316g it wont fit any more

The sealing ring allows smooth flow from the collector of the exhaust manifold to the turbine inlet without needing a port job. Using it also keeps that transition small in diameter so as not to slow down the exhaust gas pulses and muff spool speed. . . I think porting to do away with the ring is a joke. Porting the housing deeper where there's a mysterious ridge befor the wastegate dump is a better place to spend your time.

The 1g automatic td04h 13g will bolt on to a 2g ehaust manifold and evo3 exhaust manifold. See my gallary with a 13g bolted up to a 2g exhaust manifold. I mocked up the exhaust system for this car with my evo3 exhaust manifold. The 13g bolted on like stock.

Well I might need to pick up a new turbo anyways, after taking off the heat shield I used some seafoam so that I could more easily see where I was leaking, it started just at the rather large crack but then all of the sudden a huge bunch white smoke came from below the manifold either from the collector or the turbo, whether I need a turbo gasket or if the kind of heat that damaged the manifold also damaged the turbo is yet to be determined as I haven't pulled off the manifold yet. Also, when I pulled the heat shield off one of the turbo to manifold studs had been cut off so hopefully the gasket just blew out in that corner.

Just to add on to what Matt was saying about the ring, it also protects the gasket from the direct heat and pressure. I like it a lot.
