I want to upgrade my exhaust manifold. I've heard an Evo 3 or FP manifold are the best way to go. Leaning more on the Evo 3 but wanted to know if it fits exact or would there be any modification I would need to do. thanks for the help!:D

Pulled directly from RRE website for the Evo III exhaust mani:

RRE Turbo/Manifold Upgrades
These have the same runner diameter as the 2G exhaust manifolds but they have the larger collector that matches the larger inlet to a 16G with a 7cm exhaust housing. They do save a lot of time porting however. They are a direct bolt on for a 2G, they require the same slight trimming on one corner when used on a 1G to clear the P/S bracket as a 2G manifold would need. We also have the factory sealing rings to fit the 7cm size opening. This gives the gasket some protection if you leave the step there on the manifold and the turbo.

As for the Forced Performance Manifold:

FP DSM Race Manifold
Our FPRace Manifold is made in D5S Ni-Resist Turbine housing material, not inferior generic cast iron. This manifold is a direct replacement for 90-99 DSM Eclipse, Talon and Laser applications. This does not require any modifications to exhaust for installation. The factory water and oil lines will still line up correctly when using this manifold.

Hardware may be purchased as needed by using the "Related Items" links listed below. Hardware you will need to bolt a turbo to this manifold can be found under the "BOLTS" code below and quantity needed:

  • 2 piece - Evo Turbo Inlet Bolt
  • 2 piece - DSM Turbo Inlet Bolt
  • 8 piece - DSM/EVO Turbo Inlet Washer

Basically, the bottom line is do research on your own and you could have answered your question.

Both manifolds will go on with no modification. The Evo3 manifold has the same external dimensions as the 2g manifold, but the collector is larger. I used an Evo3 manifold for a few years until I went T3, and I was very happy with it.

The FP piece is real nice for sure, but a little bit more $$.

Enjoy your new manifold....
