Okay, Who ever nails it, At the end will get a prize....Well the end will prolly be a week or so....

So, I bought a 95 AWD Turbo TSi. And, I havent been able to drive it since I just picked it up the other day, and I havent got insurence/plates/inspection. Anything yet cause its damn labor day.....So iv only droven around my block, havent got past 3rd gear. But....

I was told the car sputters in high boost....What all does everyone think it could be. Im goin to write down all the good ideas. and bring them to a shop, if I cant figure them out. And have all the ideas ran through to check them all. from belts to plugs. Anything

I had very similar issues when I bought my GSX. Here are some things to check:

1. Boost leak test: More info on http://www.vfaq.com
2. Change the plugs for NGK BPR7ES gapped to 0.028" unless you're running a stock turbo on stock boost. In that case BPR6ES will do fine (same gap as above).
3. Replace spark plug wires: Magencore 8.5mm will do just fine
4. Change fuel filter: Always a good idea when buying a used car.
5. Check the intake for any leaks.

When I bought my car, it had serious driveability issues that stemmed from massive boost leaks at the BOV and from having inferior wires with platinum plugs. Whatever you do, don't invest in Platinums or Iridiums on these motors as the Platinums will never run properly and the Iridiums are not necessary.

Most issues that you're describing are usually caused by easily corrected fuel/spark issues or from boost leaks which will stress the turbo and make you run on the rich side. My guess is that most of this is spark related as evidenced by the fact that it happens under boost, but it would be wise to check everything listed above to rule each issue out.

Hope that helps and congrats on your new ride!

Andy

P.S. Even if your car is stock, please make sure you fill out your profile so we can help you troubleshoot other issues in the future.

i think you have a boost leak. :notgood: perform a boost leak test if that shows no leaks, then the next thing i would check is plugs/wires. let us know if you still can't find the problem, so we can give you more things to check :thumb:

It has intake, racing clutch, 3 inch metal intake pipe. And heres somethin else

The RFL bov. So maybe thats it. I still aint got to drive it, But tomorrows the day, im so ####ine excitied. Ill tell yall whats up then...

when i bought mine, it sputtered from like 5k to redline, because the fuel line from the fuel pump assembly to the engine was rusted to hell and spraying fuel everywhere.

you can check by running the car for like 20 minutes, and then looking under it to see if your leaking any gas.

you could also take out the back seat [ 30 seconds, even for my n00b ass] , take off fuel pump assembly cover[ 4 easy screws] , turn on the car, and see if there is any fuel leaking around the fuel pump assembly area.

definatly give the car a tune up, some ngkbr6ES plugs gapped to .028 :)

Well that was the first thing i Heard of the Fuel pump, and well shit, that could be it. The whole bottom of my car is ####in rusted as hell. I bought it up in Long Island NY, and all the salt and shit, all the cars are rusted like a bi***, mine is. So that could be it. Did you pay to have it fixed, or do it your self?

If your RFL BOV isn't recirculated, that will present problems. Also make sure that it isn't slopping around in the intake pipe. If you have a leak from there, it will create driveability issues related to bucking and misfire from boost leaks. I still think it's important to look at the easy stuff first. Check spark and boost leaks and then go after potential fuel issues.

Good luck,

Andy

Well, In about 1 1/2 hours I get to actually drive it around, Im getting all my Inspection and tags in just a few mins here. Then ill find out whats goin on, then work on it getting fixed.

Man, Yall gotta help me out. Im representing the DSMers at my High School, Im a Senior, And theres alot of mustangs/big trucks/some neons and shit. Alot of wanna be racers. All talkin shit about DSM's. Im ready to kill them all in my Talon. I wanna keep it running good, and be able to race them. Now here. My Biggest quesiton

BIGGEST QUESTION IS.....
It might sound stupid....but....

In my Talon TSI. AWD, Am I able to drop out the clutch, only revin up to about 4000 rpms. And it wont hurt my car? Or if im not running good, and my rust problems, Is there a chance Ill screw it up....Or do you think my Car will handle it.

DSM's for ever.

Stock clutch won't handle the abuse for very long. Upgrade the clutch then all you'll have to worry about it the tranny diving on you. I'd keep from popping the clutch until you've the money to fix it if it breaks.

This happend to me once. But i doubt my solution would be yours(but you never know). I was at the track and then all of a sudden my car would sputter and pop when i hit high boost. My a/f was good and the car had no boost leaks. I tried everything possible to figure out was wrong. Finally one day when i was bored and i decided to pull the valve cover. To my surprise i found out that the car had some how shot one of the roller rockers off. So one of the intake valves wasn't opening in a cylinder. I was lucky and it didn't damage anything and the roller rocker was fine. So i just had to take a couple things apart and put the roller rocker back in. After that the car ran good as new and still is. I don't know if that would be your problem but here are the basic things i would check first.

1.Make sure your not venting your BOV to atmosphere
2.Check plugs
3.Check for boost leaks
4. Check fuel system for leaks
5. Make sure your not running to much boost for your fuel system

I had the same issue in my old 92 laser, boost leak. Upper IC pipe was leaking. I fixed the leak and the problem was resolved. Congrats on the new car, good luck!

Okay, Now more of an update after driven it....Man It ran fine to me, But then again, I never drove it before. So i dunno, What will the sputtering be like?
Okay

I am Venting to the Atmosphere, Which sucks. But i dunno if thats it. It could be anything.

But one thing i did notice If my boost gauge (after market one) works, It said i was running like 13 14 psi, and im ####in stock, How do i turn it down.

Also, I raced my friends nice ass V6 Camaro, yeah yeah, V6....But its so ####in pretty. Well And I pulled on him in 3rd, we both stayed in 3rd and floord it. And in 5th beat him both time, I had 4 people in my Talon and he had 2 in his camaro.

we dident even race in any other gear tho....he also shifted perfect. And im still gettin use to it.

MAN IM SO F|_|CKIN HAPPY I GOT A DSM.....Man I love the feeling in first, I dont even drop it yet.

You know whats awesome about that....

I have the Exedy Racing Clutch (with new throw out bearing fork)

So am i good to drop it? I still havent, Im scared to.....To much speed....I went from a Buick Centry, that has prolly 85 hp, that you can floor, and everyone thinks your slowin down. To this TSI

i had the same problem and mine was do to bad fuel injector seals (they didnt leak fuel, just air) but u could smell gas...
