Pads + Rotors

I haven't been around drilled + slotted rotors too much, so I don't know much about them. I know they cool off quickly (?) supposed to help stopping I guess. The reason I am looking is the rotors on the hubby's car are NASTY and the brakes squeak pretty good and I just want to replace the whole mess for less than a gajillion dollars. I thought drilled + slotted rotors are the like the best thing since sliced bread sooo... $167 for front and rear rotors and pads? I AM ALL OVER THAT if it is as sweet a deal as it seems. So... in conclusion... any opinions on these would be fantastical. Thanks!

That is wierd. I was thinking about them on my way to work this morning, I remember everyone and there brother had them in like 01-02, I havent seen cross drilled/slotted rotors in a while. Just drilled or slotted. From what ive gathered they are good for releasing gasses built up under hard braking, It is not a cooling mechanism. Cooling is done in the fins between the front and back of the rotor, And surface area. Unless you are racing, Regular rotors will do fine, Unless you are going for looks, Then go for it.

take a look at ebc dimpled and slotted rotors,i have them on mine and i love them,also with the green pads,IMHO they wont crack as easily,now if its for the front and rear than i say go for it but slotted and drilled are more prone to cracking plus i wouldnt spend anything less than 160 for a pair if your looking for performance than ebc is another option

I wouldn't bother buying drilled/slotted rotors unless they were zinc coated.

Sloted rotors are good but drilled are prone to cracking and exploding. Just google it.

i have the ebc dimpled gold series rotors on my tsi as well. they work great and look good. drilled rotors are weaker and more prone to cracking. but under normal driving i dont think u would have any problems with the ebay ones.

That is the kind of info I needed. I needed to know what was good and bad about drilled and slotted. If they even have the slightest chance of cracking, they are not making it to this car. This car has too many issues just being stock So.. new stocks rotors here I come!

Make sure you don't get the cheap rotors made in China (ask where made). They use below standard metal which warps and cracks easily.

I personally wouldn't put cheap brake parts on my car. The braking system is one that can kill you (or your boyfriend in this case) if it fails. I have never used ebay ebay brakes before, but I have used powerslot rotors anc ebc pads with great results. No complaints whatsoever. Also the cheaper rotors have greater tendancies to crack than a good quality rotor will, but cracking will depend more on a person's driving style. If someone just uses them for street use and never really slams on them, they probably won't have problems with them cracking. I would advise against it, but that is just my personal opinion.

I have been running brembo blanks and have been doing great. I honestly would steer clear of drilled and slotted rotors as i've heard they are prone to cracking. If i did get anything i would just get slotted. I think it is EBC that make a black faced rotor with silver in the slots that looks pretty good

I had Ebay slotted rotors on my car and had no problems, they seemed to be pretty decent quality.
