The other day I used Auto Enginuity to scan my car and clear a check engine code. The program is on a laptop and a little flaky so it took some playing around to get it scanned. After I did it and cleared the code I did a run up the highway to log the car and began having problems with my speedo jumping from zero to the current speed I was going. And then it would turn off when I turned the cruise control on. And now my lights in my gauge cluster behind the speedo have gone out. Does anybody have any idea whats going on with it?

Well, there could be a number of problems going on with your speed sensor. Was the speed sensor working perfectly fine before you ran the diagnostic?

Please let us know more information so we can see exactly what might be going on.

There are multiple points in which your speed sensor can go bad, or need replacement. The easiest place to look and test is on the transmission. Second, you can look over the wiring diagram for the ECU and find the wires running the speed sensor control. The third, and where I think you problem is, is in the gauge cluster.

Here are some links to get you started. Do some research, and then ask your questions. There should be enough information here to last a while. It's possible that the test could have fried some of the components in the ECU, but HIGHLY unlikely. I would start with these readings and go from there.

Read over this information, then read it again. Once you get the concepts outlined here, then ask away. We'll get her right. :thumb:

I wasn't expecting a direct answer. I was hoping to find more info and hopefully have someone point out a common problem, which you did. And yes it was working before this. Thanks for the info.
