General EPROM ECU question

Alright I have a 92 tsi awd, The Eprom Im running is from a 90 tsi Awd. The problem is my battary and alternator sometimes freak out and just die even though both are brand new and I checked all my Grounds I have a yellow top optima so, Idk that could be it I heard other people had problems with them also, But what I'm really wondering is if the 90 ecu could be giving off any wierd signals since its not from the same year and there are slight differences between those years.

No, the 90 ecu will not cause those problems. Check to make sure the battery isnt grounding out on the hood.

Battary is in the trunk in a sealed enclosure.

Well having a 90 ecu in a 91-94 car will make it run a little weird , although ive never heard of it doing that you may want to try a 91-94 ecu , see if a friend has one you could borrow to test.

Is it possible for your power wire to ground out anywhere between the trunk and engine? I would check where it passes through the firewall and make sure the insulation hasnt been cut through. Do you have a logger? If so, what does the battery voltage look like when you have these problems?

Yeah I have heard a lot of people with charging problems on the yellow tops and then they go to reds and its all good.
