how does it work? is it the same thing as uberdata for hondas? if so what program or emulator do i use to tune it and for logging?

There are some programs similar to uberdata but they are fairly new and they don't do everything that they should. Evilscribe and dsmap are ok, dsmap has a lot more potential but both are pretty basic at this point. I believe the ostrich emulator works with our ecu's.
Hex editing seems to be the most effective way to go. It took me less than a day to figure it out with no prior experience. I gave up on the chip burning and went with dsmlink since they may be going to make some major upgrades (speed density) in the near future. Dsmap also is attempting to use speed density but it's still in the trial stages.
