I have 3 options. So my original plan was to

1) just drop my tranny and get IPT torque converter, end clutches and shift kit. Parts would be about 700 plus shipping. But now I don't known if it will need more than that. has a real hard time shift (way late) slips when downshifting. No overdrive, and then today I noticed it was leaking tranny fluid. (think its coming from the dipstick area because of intercooler piping, but still).

2) Then someone referred me to english racing and I was looking on their site. Says trans rebuilds starting at $900 don't know what all that includes I'll have to give them a call tomorrow.

3)And then I cam across a used trans with 98K on it with torque converter for 500. And I was thinking I could go with that and put IPT torque converter, end clutches and shift kit and the total would be about 1200.

Opinions? what do you think would be the best bet?

I would be careful with IPT stuff. Jeff Bush had many problems with them when he was using thier tranny's. Jeff's current trannies have proven to be able to withstand multiple 8-second passes at the track. It also doesn't hurt that he has the world's quickest and fastest AWD auto DSM.

I would add that Jeff and the ER crew are a great group of people and are always willing to talk shop and hang out with enthusists.

Lucas and his shop are amazing. They do great work for very little and he's pretty cool about trying to save you money. He personally worked on my tranny since it was for my DD to make sure I could get around sooner. He had my car done in pretty much one day. That included taking out, rebuilding, and reinstalling my tranny. He also did a cv boot and shaft for less than the cost of the shaft because he had ran them a couple times. The rebuild is holding up great after a year of use.

yeah for me, i would rather have my tranny rebuild so i don't have to worry about the reliability anymore. i would have it rebuild and it should handle more power.

another thing about a use transmission you have to worry about is the condition and how its was use/abused. with a rebuild you can basically know all the parts been inspected and will function accordingly.

Hope this helps, good luck...

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see how it goes. Got about $1500 to work with for the tranny. Not a whole lot for a shop, but we will see. Can't till Its all done. Be nice to have that peace of mind again knowing I will be able to get to work LOL

yeah, a reliability would be great. And if you want more power later on the tranny will be up to it. $1500 is alot to work with and i think you will have a nice build. Make sure you shop around so you can get more bang for your bucks. Be sure to call tre, shep, jack, ipt, etc and see who offers more for dollars.
