Engine wont crank

the car is a 92 eclipse GSX, i bought it for $800, he wanted $2800obo but when we were leting the car warm up, a couple min. into it the car just quit, we thought that it might have been hydrolocked, or something. The motor would not crank over so i had the starter tested and it works fine. I am hoping that the motor is not seized up. the motor supposably was rebuilt by Modified FX in Grand Rapids, and it only has 1500 miles on the rebuild, he said he put $4500 in the motor and it has a new hks exhaust cam in it, with high flow lifters, .02 overbore w/wiseco pistons. let me know if anyone knows what it could be.

Did you check the oil?
Is it turning over at all?
When it ran did it lope real bad?
Did it sit for a while and possibly get water in the fuel?

Call Modified FX, but I doubt he even got the engine rebuilt for $4500 and put less 1500 miles and sold it for $800. I mean, $4500 is for a total rebuilt with the engine being internally blueprinted, bored, ported, and polished.

The only real plausible reason he sold it for $800 if he did rebuild the engine for $4500 is that he put a beating on the engine and knew it was a goner. But I find that doubtful, the parts; HKS Cams, Wiseco Pistons, rods, etc... are worth more than $800.

the motor did lope pretty good, and he said the reason he was getting rid of it was because his kid was in the hospital and he needed the money? I tried to turn the motor over by turning the crank with a socket and breaker bar with the plugs out, but it did not budge.

Pull that head off and look inside!!!! Do the timing marks still line up? or did they ever?
