im in the middle of swaping out my 1.8L and im putting in a 2.0. i know i need a ECU,coil pack,harness ext...but..if im still using a 4G63..can i use a 2G ECU and a 2G harness??? :dsm: thanks

Are you going to a turbo 2.0 or not?

Do you have all the electronics from a 2g turbo to put on your motor as well?

Sounds to me like yet another un-researched engine swap :nono:

not to be rude...but as far as the mechanics go..i resurced it well...and its a non turbo swap,im going to go turbo someday, but not soon. i was just wondering if the ECU and the harness for the non turbo 2G will run on the 6 bolt swap im doing,i looked at my friends car..and it LOOKS like it will...but im not sure.

That last post alone shows how little you've researched electronically though on the swap. The mechanical side isn't that hard.

The 2g nt uses a chrysler 420a and chrysler electronics with 1 coil pack, and you're trying to use that on a mitsubishi 2.0 motor with 2 coil packs that uses mitsubishi electronics, and you're putting it all into a mitsubishi 1.8 chassis that at used mitsubishi electronics and a distributor.

You tell me if you think it will work.

no im not trying anything..im asking. i havent even bought parts yet. k..so if i dont use the 420A harness...can i use the 1G harness with a 2G ECU??? i dont know if this will work...nor am i trying anything...im asking so i know what to do.

Keep everything 1g, the more different years and generations you mix in the tougher it will become. Not to mention there's a real good chance it won't even work.

My question is why are you spending this kind of money on this car when you could transfer all your fwd specific parts to a 2.0 nt you bought for $1000. Or you could get a turbo fwd for $1500 and hell a decent awd for $2000. This swap will probably cost you close to $1000 or better.

your right,it will cost 1100 to swap, but i live in wyoming,if you want anything besides a chevell or a jacked up ford...you need to travle, far, and not to mention im 17,this is my project while im attending school for my auto tech digree. also...daddys money. i want to do the swap...i need to learn. and by the way...i found and purchesed a 1G wire harness and a ECU for 150 shipped. and the J-spec engine is 695...so im not TO far in the hole..seeing is how i spent 1100 on the car,had it for 10 days and the think has a windo in the block the size of a half dollar...or i would just buy a GSX. thanks for the imput tho...much helpfull. still new to dsm's. :dsm:
